Duties and responsibilities:
1. In-Classroom Instructional Support:
- Anticipate Needs: Work closely with the lead teacher to prepare materials before the lesson begins, ensuring a seamless flow of activities.
- Small Group & Individual Support: Proactively identify students who are struggling or need an extra challenge and initiate support under the teacher's guidance.
- Adapt on the Fly: Flexibly adjust your support style based on student needs during lessons, without always waiting for direct instruction.
2. Student Supervision & Engagement:
- Active Playground/Lunch Duty: Don't just supervise—engage. Initiate positive interactions and inclusive games during breaks.
- Routine Management: Take the lead on classroom routines like packing bags, lining up, and transitions, fostering independence and order.
- Behavioral Support: Implement the teacher's behavior management strategies consistently and calmly. Identify potential conflicts and intervene early using positive reinforcement.
3. Classroom & Administrative Support:
- Preparation is Key: Volunteer to help create engaging teaching aids, bulletin boards, and hands-on learning resources.
- Organization: Take initiative in maintaining a tidy, organized, and resource-rich learning environment. This includes managing books, supplies, and learning stations.
- Communication: Provide timely, clear, and helpful feedback to the teacher about student progress, observations, and any concerns.
4. Whole-School Support:
- Be a Team Player: Be willing to support school-wide events, such as assemblies, field trips, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Step In Where Needed: Demonstrate flexibility by offering help to other staff members or stepping into different classrooms when the situation requires.
