A Teaching Assistant is responsible for helping expat teachers to prepare engaging lesson plans and educate students at all levels. Their duties include preparing teaching and learning equipment as required, assisting in checking and grading, and documenting progress. Beyond their assisting duties, Teaching Assistants are expected to contribute to Wellspring as active members. A Teaching Assistant is responsible for working and maintaining clear and consistent communication with expat teachers, students, parents, IP team as well
- Assist expat teachers in planning and preparing lessons.
- Assist teachers to deliver engaging lesson that support students below grade level while also pushing at and above grade level.
- Assist teachers with logistics arrangement.
- Deliver remedial classes that help students who need support in learning as designed and prescribed by the teachers. s
- Assist expat teachers with marking and correcting work.
- Follow students’ learning progress and remind when needed.
- Ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all students.
- Attend professional development workshops as directed by supervisor.
- Attend TA meeting as scheduled by Head/ Deputy Head of TA.
- Encourage and enforce and English speaking environment for all students within the school compound.
- Regularly update the students’ performance to parents.
2. Administrative duties:
- Ensure that equipment used in the classroom is for instructional purposes.
- Assist teachers in ordering supplies for classroom activities.
- Assist in general maintenance and cleaning of the classroom after activities.
- Manage and arrange documents in office space in well ordered.
- Participate in the annual performance review process as conducted by direct supervisor.
- Check, print and deliver student’s academic reports twice a semester.
- Check e-mail daily to receive updated school information.
- Translate during teacher-parent conferences or official emails between expat teachers and parents.
- Keep the connection between homeroom teacher, parents and expat teachers.
- Deliver weekly student planner to the students.
- Communicate issues that arise for individual students or classes with your direct supervisor.
4. Contribution to the Wellspring community:
- Contribute to organize the events held by IP.
- Adhere to all regulations, policies and other assignments as dictated by Board of Directors.
- Participate in department and school events on regular basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in English or English Teaching
- At least one (1) year of increasingly responsible teaching or teaching assistant experience.
- Strong presentation, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Skills in class management, time management, critical thinking and team work.
- Excellent English pronunciation and clear handwriting.
- Skilled in the use of personal computers, related software applications and Internet.
