Job responsibilities
- Influence product definition and architecture selection, in close collaboration with product design teams, via early design for manufacturing engagement in the areas of precision electronic assembly, automation, sealing, adhesives, metal fabrication and finishing, injection molding, and leak testing.
- Develop manufacturing processes and fixtures, in close collaboration with manufacturing partners and equipment providers, via specification, design, prototyping, fabrication, and validation of manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency, flexibility, and scalability via analysis, simulation, and planning of work flow, space requirements, production capacity, and equipment layout.
- Identify, investigate, analyze, and integrate new manufacturing processes, technologies, and equipment.
Qualifications
- You must meet these minimum qualifications to apply for this job
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in technical program management and manufacturing engineering.
- Experience leading the specification, development, and implementation of manufacturing fixtures, equipment, and process flows.
- Experience collaborating with design teams early in the hardware lifecycle to ensure design for manufacturing principles are properly incorporated into product architectures.
Preferred qualifications
- Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable
- Master's degree in mechanical, controls, or mechatronics engineering
- Experience with high-volume, high-precision consumer electronics
- Fluency with NX or other CAD tools, DOE, GRR, tolerance analysis, and statistical analysis
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and Asia-based manufacturing partners
- Hands-on experience in NPI (New Product Introduction) from design handoff through mass production ramp
- Proficiency in DFM (Design for Manufacturability) — precision assembly, sealing, adhesives, injection moulding
- Led specification, development & validation of manufacturing fixtures, equipment and process flows
- Experience collaborating with design teams early in the HW lifecycle (pre-EVT/DVT/PVT)
- Working knowledge of yield analysis, process capability studies (Cpk), DOE
- Familiarity with CM/ODM factory environments in Asia (preferably Foxconn, Pegatron, Wistron, Samsung, or equivalent)
- Ability to travel to Asia-based manufacturing partners and be on-site during builds
