Job description for Head of Academic Department at PT Generasi Bintang Cemerlang

About the Role

Star Generation is seeking a highly capable and operationally driven Head of Academic Department to lead the Company's academic operations, tutor management, curriculum execution, and educational quality initiatives.

The Academic Department is responsible for overseeing all academic services and subjects under Star Generation's non-competition programs, covering both national and international curricula, including IB, Cambridge, IGCSE, A-Level and related academic pathways.

This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high quality educational services across all programs while driving operational excellence, academic performance, student satisfaction, and tutor development.

The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership capabilities, excellent English communication skills, a deep understanding of international education standards (IB, Cambridge, IGCSE, A-Level, or equivalent), and proven experience managing operations within the education or service industry.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Operations Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Academic Department.
  • Ensure smooth execution of all tutoring, group classes, camps, workshops, and academic programs and other tutor related activities
  • Develop and implement academic policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Monitor academic service quality and ensure consistency across all programs.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Tutor Management & Development

  • Support tutor recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and retention initiatives.
  • Monitor tutor performance standards and quality assurance processes.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for tutors.
  • Manage tutor tiering, promotion recommendations, and succession planning together with HRD team
  • Build a good company culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.

Curriculum & Academic Quality Assurance

  • Ensure curriculum implementation aligns with Company standards and student needs.
  • Review and improve teaching methodologies, lesson quality, and learning outcomes.
  • Support the development of academic resources, teaching materials, and training programs.
  • Monitor student performance trends and recommend academic improvements.
  • Maintain quality standards across all educational offerings.

Student & Parent Experience

  • Collaborate with Customer Service teams to ensure high levels of student and parent satisfaction.
  • Address escalated academic concerns and provide appropriate resolutions.
  • Monitor student retention, academic outcomes, and service quality metrics.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance the overall learning experience.

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Work closely with Management to develop and execute academic strategies.
  • Collaborate with Management to develop new programs, refine existing programs, and ensure Star Generation remains innovative and competitive.
  • Support business growth through scalable academic systems and processes.
  • Participate in annual planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and present academic performance reports and operational updates.
  • Lead cross functional projects and strategic initiatives as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (S1) from a reputable university.
  • Graduates from international schools or universities with strong exposure to international curricula (IB, Cambridge, IGCSE, A-Level, or equivalent) are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional and relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in operations management, academic management, educational services, customer experience, or service operations.
  • Prior experience in the education industry, tutoring centers, enrichment programs, training providers, schools, universities, or service-oriented organizations is preferred.
  • Previous leadership or team management experience is highly desirable.

Language Requirements

  • Strong English proficiency (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, tutors, expatriates, and external stakeholders.
