I. JOB PURPOSE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Job purpose
- Source, develop, and evaluate transportation vendors to support B2B operational requirements.
- Ensure optimal vendor allocation for each route and customer by assessing fleet capacity, service quality, pricing, SLA compliance, and scalability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for market intelligence, collecting quotations, benchmarking vendor capabilities, and providing input data to
support pricing proposals and tender submissions.
2. Key responsibilities
Transportation Vendor Sourcing & Development (30%)
● Receive sourcing requests from the Sales and Operations teams, including route requirements, vehicle type, shipment volume, service frequency, SLA, target pricing, and quotation timeline.
● Clarify business requirements and resolve any missing information before initiating the sourcing process.
● Proactively source and identify new transportation vendors based on routes, geographic coverage, vehicle types, industry expertise, and
operating models.
● Maintain and update a qualified vendor pool, including primary, backup, and potential vendors by route and region.
Vendor Capability Assessment & Management (25%)
● Engage with existing vendors to update information on fleet size, vehicle types, owned vs. subcontracted fleets, service coverage, key transportation
lanes, backhaul capabilities, and expansion capacity.
● Assess vendor capabilities in dispatch operations, driver quality, booking acceptance, backup resources, industry experience, and SLA commitment.
● Evaluate each vendor's strengths, limitations, operational risks, and suitability for specific routes and business requirements.
Quotation Management & Tender Support (30%)
● Request and collect quotations from transportation vendors using standardized RFQ templates.
● Clarify pricing components, including fuel surcharge, toll fees, waiting time, loading/unloading charges, gate fees, after-hours service,
documentation, and other applicable surcharges.
● Consolidate and compare vendor quotations based on routes, vehicle types, operating models, pricing, and service conditions.
● Prepare vendor profiles, procurement cost analysis, backup sourcing plans, and risk assessments to support customer quotations and tender submissions.
Vendor Database Management & Performance Evaluation (15%)
● Maintain and update the vendor database, including contact information, service coverage, vehicle capacity, reference pricing, operational
capabilities, risk notes, and cooperation history.
● Coordinate with the Operations team to execute pilot runs for new routes and evaluate operational performance.
● Collect and analyze vendor performance feedback, including vehicle availability, on-time performance, issue resolution, driver professionalism,
and POD/documentation compliance.
● Recommend vendor retention, expansion, performance improvement, or replacement based on operational results and performance evaluations.
II. JOB REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor's degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Economics, Business Administration, or other related fields.
● Solid understanding of road transportation operations, including vehicle types and capacities, B2B delivery operations, transportation networks,
transportation cost structure, and carrier engagement models such as primary/backup vendors, dedicated routes, spot bookings, monthly vehicle
leasing, and multi-drop deliveries.
● Minimum 3 years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Transportation Procurement. Candidates with experience in carrier/vendor
sourcing, working with transportation providers, collecting and comparing quotations, supporting RFQ/RFP processes, transportation tenders, or
transportation procurement are highly preferred.
● Strong communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills, with the ability to evaluate carrier capabilities, analyze and compare quotations,
and build effective relationships with transportation partners. Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data management, reporting, and analysis, with the
ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Operations, Pricing, Finance, and Legal.
● Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly accountable, with the ability to closely manage sourcing activities, maintain accurate vendor information (pricing, routes, vehicle types, and commercial terms), and provide objective, data-driven vendor recommendations.
