Position: AWS Cloud Engineer - Focus Data Domain
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Design, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure for enterprise data platforms.
- Manage and optimize cloud-based data services to ensure performance, availability, and scalability.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure platform reliability.
- Implement security, backup, disaster recovery, and compliance best practices.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and infrastructure costs.
- Develop technical documentation, automation scripts, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable data platform solutions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- No spoken English proficiency required.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining AWS-based data infrastructure in production environments, with experience in hybrid environments (On-premises + AWS) preferred.
- Strong expertise in AWS core data services, including Amazon S3 (Lifecycle Policies, Versioning, Replication), AWS Glue (Job Monitoring, Crawler Scheduling), Amazon EMR (Cluster Sizing, Auto Scaling), Amazon MSK (Kafka Broker Management), and AWS Lake Formation (Permission Model).
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, including automated deployment of AWS Glue Jobs, AWS Step Functions, and AWS Lambda using AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Terraform.
- Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to provision and manage end-to-end data infrastructure, with no manual production deployments.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability using Amazon CloudWatch and Prometheus.
- Production experience managing Apache Kafka or Amazon MSK, including broker health monitoring, consumer group lag analysis, partition rebalancing, retention policy management, and AWS Glue Schema Registry administration.
- Experience designing and operating data pipeline orchestration using AWS Step Functions or Apache Airflow (Amazon MWAA), including retry mechanisms, dead-letter queues (DLQ), and SLA breach alerting.
- Strong understanding of AWS cost optimization for data services, including S3 Intelligent-Tiering, Glue DPU optimization, EMR Spot Instances, MSK broker rightsizing, as well as implementing budget alerts and domain-based chargeback reporting.
- Experience implementing and operating AWS data security best practices, including IAM least-privilege access, Lake Formation column- and row-level security, AWS KMS key rotation, AWS PrivateLink, and Security Group auditing.
- Ability to develop and maintain operational runbooks and incident playbooks for common scenarios such as pipeline failures, CDC lag, S3 quota breaches, and Kafka consumer issues.
- Experience managing cloud data storage, including S3 capacity management across Raw, Working, Curated, Sensitive, and Backup zones, lifecycle policy configuration, Glacier archiving, and S3 Replication for disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with hybrid network connectivity, including AWS Direct Connect, VPN failover with BGP, AWS Transit Gateway, and AWS PrivateLink, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Network teams to troubleshoot On-premises-to-Cloud connectivity issues.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Shell for infrastructure automation, health checks, auto-remediation, log parsing, and pipeline re-execution triggers.
