Job description for Senior System Engineer at Unit Technology Corporation
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration and Operations
- Administer physical servers, virtualization platforms, Windows Server/Linux operating systems, and shared infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and NTP.
- Administer SAN/NAS storage systems, SAN connectivity, capacity allocation, and redundant storage access paths.
- Administer backup and recovery platforms; monitor backup results, troubleshoot failures, and conduct regular recovery tests.
- Administer Microsoft 365 and email services, and manage endpoint devices within the assigned scope.
- Monitor system resources, performance, and health; analyze usage trends, forecast demand, and recommend capacity expansion.
- Apply patches, perform system hardening, and manage configurations in accordance with approved standards.
- Incident Management and Service Continuity
- Serve as the focal point for complex incidents involving servers, operating systems, virtualization, storage, and backup.
- Analyze logs, performance metrics, and events to identify root causes; prepare RCA reports and implement preventive measures.
- Coordinate with DBAs, application teams, information security teams, and vendors to resolve incidents involving multiple components.
- Develop, update, and test HA/DR plans and system failover and recovery procedures in line with approved RTO/RPO targets.
- Participate in on-call operations, incident resolution, and after-hours changes as assigned.
- Project Design and Implementation
- Assess requirements and the current environment, and propose infrastructure architecture and sizing for new or upgraded systems.
- Lead the technical work or participate in server, storage, virtualization, backup, DC/DR, and infrastructure service projects.
- Develop or review design documentation and implementation, testing, migration, and rollback plans.
- Evaluate vendor solutions for integration, performance, HA/DR, operability, lifecycle, and total cost.
- Automate administration, checking, and reporting tasks using suitable tools or scripts.
Requirements
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in systems infrastructure administration, including hands-on operation of high-availability production environments.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, enterprise virtualization platforms, and Active Directory/DNS services.
- Experience administering SAN/NAS storage, backup/restore, and implementing or operating HA/DR.
- Ability to analyze CPU, RAM, disk I/O, and storage latency performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot incidents, prepare RCA reports, and develop change and rollback plans.
- Ability to use PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent tools to automate tasks.
- Ability to read technical documentation in English and discuss technical matters with vendors.
- Preferred
- Experience in banking, finance, or 24/7 operations environments.
- Experience implementing or relocating DC/DR environments and upgrading infrastructure supporting critical databases and applications.
- Knowledge of infrastructure supporting Oracle RAC/ASM, storage mechanisms, and database backup coordination.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Relevant certifications in Linux, Microsoft, virtualization, storage/backup, or ITIL.Key Responsibilities
