Job description for MySQL Database Administrator at PT Nextgen Inovasi Indonesia
PT Nextgen Inovasi Indonesia is looking for an experienced MySQL Database Administrator to manage, maintain, monitor, optimize, and secure MySQL/Percona/MariaDB databases, ensuring high availability, backup and recovery, and replication across servers and data centers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (S1) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of experience as a MySQL DBA, preferably in mission-critical production environments.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL, Percona, MariaDB, InnoDB, indexing, query optimization, stored procedures, user/privilege management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in performance tuning, slow query analysis, execution plans, parameter tuning, capacity planning, and CPU, memory, disk I/O, and connection pool optimization.
- Understanding of full/incremental backups, point-in-time recovery, restore drills, backup retention, and periodic backup validation.
- Knowledge of master-slave/multi-source replication, GTID, failover/failback, clustering, high availability (HA), and cross-data-center/DRC replication.
- Experience in database monitoring, alert handling, log analysis, incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), patching, and preventive maintenance.
- Understanding of database hardening, role-based access, audit logs, encryption, privilege reviews, vulnerability patching, and data security controls.
- Familiarity with Linux servers, storage, basic networking, virtualization, and their impact on database performance.
- Detail-oriented, disciplined in documentation, strong communication skills, and able to collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Willing to work on-call or shifts when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure production database availability, performance, and reliability.
- Perform daily monitoring, performance tuning, backup and restore operations, and database capacity management.
- Manage replication, HA/DRC, failover readiness, and restore/failover drills.
- Support troubleshooting of application incidents related to databases.
- Maintain configuration documentation, SOPs, RCA reports, and database operational reports.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Percona XtraDB Cluster, MySQL Router/ProxySQL, Orchestrator, or similar HA tools.
- Experience in transaction, payment, switching systems, or 24/7 production environments.
- Knowledge of Bash/Python automation and monitoring dashboards such as Zabbix, Grafana, or PMM.
- Database, Linux, or cloud certifications are an advantage.
