Mediashock is looking for a project based freelance video editor with at least 2 years of industry experience to work on community content videos (3 to 5 mins per video) for tech brands and their audiences. The content you edit will be for Koreans living in Korea. Hence, awareness of cultural nuances and non verbal cues will be important aspects for you to contribute on.
Role Overview
At Mediashock, we specialise in creating video experiences for regional brands, including corporate videos, animated explainers, hybrid events and livestream productions. We are a space for brave ideas, filled with problem solvers, breakthrough thinkers, and creatives who create conversation, drive change for our clients through videos.
As a freelance Video Editor, you will report to the producer and get to work closely with the rest of the editing team, if required to help bring the project to life.
Your specific roles includes:
- Verify footages provided to you on Google Drive.
- Perform multi-cam content cut (up to 2 cams) based on the provided script.
- Make creative edit decisions to achieve content objectives for projects without complete script.
- Assemble materials including graphics/animation into a coherent and compelling flow in the Korean language. After Effects working project files will be provided in English.
- Perform colour correction and audio enhancement as needed.
What expertise you need
- Excellent editing skills including knowledge of Adobe Premiere.
- Knowledge of After Effects, and motion graphics design will be required.
- Native command of Korean, and able to understand culture nuances and non verbal cues and its effect on the edited as viewed by Koreans.
- Good understanding of video tempo including pacing of the edits to ensure optimal utilisation of space/pauses in the video.
- Responsive in communication, and able to stick to agreed delivery datelines
Why you might be excited working with us
- Clear project briefs, with a producer and project manager to support communications with the end client
- Supported by a team of full time editors and motion graphics artists for technical collaboration
- You feel great about the strict attention to detail and high standards.
- Potential to work in a full time capacity, if there is a great culture fit
- Regular work of similar nature
Why you might not be a great fit
- You believe that strict brand guidelines restrict your creativity
- You believe that B2B brands are boring, and that you cannot find inspiration in this space
- You are uncomfortable with set deadlines and peak seasons. During busy periods, everyone pulls in and helps each other. If you feel uncomfortable being a team player, and concerned only on completing YOUR work, you may not feel at home here.
- We do not micro-manage. If you are looking for a job, where someone tells you what to do every single day, this might not be the right role for you.
How to Apply
- Provide as much details as you can. You can list down questions you have for us too.
Interview Process
- We receive your completed form and portfolio
- We invite you for a video call interview to discuss working style and culture, and preview your portfolio
- We invite you to attempt a simple Technical assessment (we will provide all necessary footage, materials, and instructions for the edit)
- We will offer you with a formal project contract with clear terms
