Job description for Devops Engineer at SotaTek
We are looking for Junior DevOps Engineers who are passionate about cloud and automation to join our DevOps team. You will work alongside senior engineers to build and operate CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code and cloud infrastructure for our projects, with a clear path to grow into a well-rounded DevOps engineer. Your key responsibilities:
- Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) for development teams across multiple projects.
- Containerize applications: write and optimize Dockerfiles and Docker Compose setups, and maintain container images and registries.
- Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to provision and manage cloud resources, following team standards and code review.
- Deploy and operate applications on cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Write scripts (Bash/Python) to automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Monitor systems, investigate alerts, and support troubleshooting of build, deployment and runtime issues.
- Write and maintain technical documentation (runbooks, deployment guides, environment setup).
- Learn and gradually contribute to Kubernetes workloads and platform improvements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have:
- 0.5–2 years of experience in DevOps, System Administration, or Software Development with hands-on infrastructure/deployment work. Strong internship or personal projects are also considered.
- Good cloud knowledge on AWS or Azure: core services such as compute , networking, storage, IAM, CDN, CI/CD and load balancing.
- Strong Docker skills: writing efficient Dockerfiles, Docker Compose and an understanding of container networking, volumes, containers debugging.
- Hands-on CI/CD experience with at least one tool (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins…): building pipelines for build, test, image push and deploy
- Hands-on experience with Terraform: writing resources, variables and outputs, using modules, understanding state (remote state, locking) and the plan/apply workflow.
- Solid Linux fundamentals: command line, processes, permissions, systemd, log investigation.
- Basic networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, reverse proxy
- Comfortable with Git.
- Scripting with Bash or Python.
- Able to read and understand English technical documentation.
- Eager to learn, takes ownership of tasks, and communicates issues clearly and early.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to Kubernetes (basic objects such as Pod, Deployment, Service, Ingress) or Helm.
- Experience with other IaC tools such as Pulumi or AWS CloudFormation.
- Configuration management with Ansible.
- Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Loki, ELK…).
- Cloud/System certifications
- Personal projects, a homelab, or a GitHub repo showing DevOps work.
- Good English communication skills.
