- Support project activities, including monitoring, coordinating the field activities, day to day implementation of Landscape Monitoring in pilot districts (e.g. procurement of services, travel documentation, events, kick-off meeting, etc.), and collaboration with client and internal team to ensure project deliverables fulfillment.
- Analyze forestry & greenhouse gas (GHG) data, evaluate data quality, collect data, and review the processes.
- Help process forest carbon accounting methodologies.
- Research and knowledge sharing on specific requirements for various certification standards, carbon, and other sustainability topics.
- Support on the data collection and develop the project report for monitoring and evaluation purposes, as well as donor reporting of the project.
- Build and maintain strong relationship with key stakeholders to advance the adoption and implementation of landscape monitoring project in priority districts.
- Support in producing research and communication products, in the form of modules, blogposts, journals, technical note or working paper with topics related to Indonesia to landscape monitoring, forestry, and forest legality.
- Support in developing presentation and briefs with topics related with to landscape monitoring, forestry, and forest legality.
- Prepare data for analysis and provide high quality interpretation using advanced spatial analysis and remote sensing techniques.
- Conduct spatial analysis and high quality interpretation of satellite imagery using advanced GIS tools and methodologies to produce high quality maps (i.e. land-cover/land-use change, NDVI, tree canopy, forest change, forest fire impact, carbon estimation, DTM, etc), and relevant forest monitoring research.
- Organize and arrange GIS and remote sensing data into a spatial database system/analysis using applicable standards for reporting purposes.
- Responsible for raster data management.
- Bachelor’s degree, in forestry, geography, environmental management/science, or other related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of full-time work experience on forestry or environmental issues, with work experience on mapping, and spatial data would be a plus.
- Knowledge of greenhouse gases, climate change, and/or carbon.
- Willing to get the hands dirty and communicate with farmers.
- Willingness to be travel in all areas of Indonesia.
- Good with numbers and data, knowledge of basic data analytics preferred.
- Working experience in spatial analysis using GIS software, with familiarity working with Remote Sensing data is a plus.
- Experience in conducting engagement with local government, local CSOs, and/or private sector for the forest monitoring topic.
