Job description for Coding & Robotics Teaching Assistant at LccL Coding Academy

How do you know if this is for you?
- Do you love to guide, teach and inspire children and young learners?
- Do you have the ability to help people understand difficult concepts?
- Do you enjoy coding and/or tinkering with electronics and hardware?
- Does it excite you to exchange teaching, coding and tinkering ideas with others?
- Are you currently studying for a Diploma/Degree in Computer Science/related fields or a Diploma/Degree in Math/Science/Engineering with exposure to programming?
If you answered yes to all above, this may be for you.
What you will undertake:
- Assist Lead Teachers at LccL campus and our partner organisations.
- Guide child and teen learners with block-programming platform Scratch / robotics / Arduino / Python.
- Assist in updating teaching materials.
- Be a walking and breathing ambassador of Computational Thinking and Coding education.
What your commitments are:
- Start Dec 2020 onwards.
- Must be available twice a week for at least 12 weeks (either weekday or weekend).
- Must be available to attend teacher training.
What you must possess to successfully learn and grow in this role:
- Good understanding of at least one modern programming language e.g. Python, C, C++, Java.
- Ability to work with children and teenagers.
- Ability to converse, teach and write in good English.
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
- Mindset and attitude of continuous improvement.
- Trustworthy, responsible with strong personal integrity.
Things you need to know about his role:
- Training will be provided.
- You need not have experience teaching, but you must have a great passion to teach and possess a great learning attitude.
- You must be adept at computer programming.
- You will be joining our team of teachers who are also life-long learners and are constantly improving their teaching and technical skills.
- Good track record in this role will lead to career growth opportunities.
- Current undergrad/postgrad or fresh grads welcome.
