Summary of the Job: (Primary function of the job)
A Purchasing Team Leader drives procurement strategies, manages supplier relationships, and oversees team performance to ensure efficient, compliant, cost-effective and timely deliveries purchasing operations. She/he leads sourcing initiatives, negotiate supplier contracts, optimize vendor partnerships, and manage inventory.
Team Leadership: Managing buyer work allocation, performance appraisals, training, and development for the purchasing team.
Supplier Management: Negotiating with suppliers, evaluating performance to improve supplier performance and reliability, and driving strategic sourcing to reduce costs. Maintain relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure consistent quality.
Cost Optimization: Initiate cost-saving strategies, analyze spending, and prepare procurement KPI reports for management.
Operational Excellence: Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, tender procedures, and financial regulations.
Procurement Operations: Review and approve purchase orders, monitor team to track supplier on-time deliveries, and manage inventory levels to avoid stockouts or excess.
Stakeholder Management: Coordinating with internal departments (e.g., planning, quality, manufacturing, production, warehouse/logistics) to meet operational needs and timely, quality delivery.
Continuous Improvement Program: Streamlined, faster, and error-free purchasing processes from PO to DO to Invoicing; Optimized supplier delivery to achieve best total landed cost
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or logistics.
More than 10 years proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, and > 3
years with previous supervisory experience.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management abilities.
Knowledge of ERP systems espeically in procurement module and MS Office.
Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
