Job description for LNG Trader at Satellite International (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyse global LNG and ethane markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, pricing, shipping, inventory levels, geopolitical and regulatory developments, to identify trading opportunities.
- Develop market insights and provide commercial recommendations to support trading strategies and business decisions.
- Develop and execute paper trading strategies for LNG, ethane and related energy products, including futures, swaps and other derivative instruments, within approved trading mandates and risk limits.
- Manage trading positions, market exposure and P&L performance in accordance with approved trading mandates and risk limits.
- Collaborate closely with the physical trading team and cross-functional teams, including operations, shipping, finance and risk management, to support commercial activities and ensure efficient trade execution.
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, counterparties and other market participants.
- As the business develops, progressively participate in physical LNG and ethane trading activities, including commercial negotiations, contract execution and cargo optimisation.
- Perform any other duties or projects assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry, Economics, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in LNG, natural gas, ethane or other energy markets, with exposure to market analysis, paper trading, derivatives trading or physical trading.
- Strong understanding of LNG and/or ethane market fundamentals, pricing mechanisms, shipping economics and global energy market dynamics.
- Experience in paper trading of LNG, natural gas, LPG, crude oil or other energy commodities, including futures, swaps or other derivative instruments, will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, quantitative and risk management skills, with the ability to evaluate market fundamentals, volatility, pricing structures and trading risks.
- High integrity, professional ethics and sense of responsibility, with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent command of English and Chinese languages (as the position needs to frequently communicate with English/Chinese speaking stakeholders verbally/in writing as well as to prepare and proof-read English/Chinese official documents and presentations whenever appropriate).
