About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Freight Specialist to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating competitive freight solutions, managing carrier and forwarder relationships, supporting commercial teams, and driving logistics cost optimization across global trade lanes. You will also be tasked to handle any ad-hoc job as assigned by the manager.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys negotiation, market analysis, relationship management, and making a direct impact on business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Freight Sourcing & Procurement

Source and negotiate competitive freight rates for FCL, LCL, ISO Tank, and as well as air freight from carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers for global shipments.

Conduct objective assessments of freight forwarders, logistics partners based on pricing competitiveness, service performance, reliability, and responsiveness to support supplier selection and continuous improvement.

Manage quotations for shipment across key trade lanes (from shipping lines and freight forwarders, air lines) to ensure the best value and service.

Analyse freight cost structure, market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.

Contract & Cost Management

Negotiate and manage freight contracts, rate agreements, and service terms.

Review and challenge freight rate increases, surcharges, and carrier proposals to ensure competitiveness.

Verify freight invoices and resolve billing discrepancies, including demurrage and detention charges.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

Build strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics partners.

Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams to provide timely freight market updates and transportation solutions.

Support customer quotations with accurate and competitive freight costing.

Who We're Looking For

At least a Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in direct freight forwarding shipping lines, logistics procurement, or freight sales.

Strong knowledge of ocean freight (FCL/LCL), incoterms and trade lanes.

Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Confident in questioning and challenging freight rate increases using market knowledge and data.

Analytical, proactive, and commercially driven.

Ability to worked with tight deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Office and high attention to detail.

Able to work independently / work well in a team-oriented environment when required.

Preferred Skills

Experience in regional or global sourcing roles

Existing network with shipping lines and logistics providers is an added advantage
