Job description for Equipment Engineer at Leica Geosystems
We are seeking a hands-on and driven Equipment Engineer to join our team in developing and enhancing high-precision mechatronic systems in a production environment.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working across mechanical design, system integration, troubleshooting, and calibration, and thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional setting.
What You Will Do
Design and develop high-precision fixtures and mechatronic systems using CAD, with a focus on manufacturability and performance.
Translate system requirements into robust, reliable, and repeatable engineering solutions.
Assemble, calibrate, and optimise equipment to meet key performance targets (e.g. accuracy, yield, uptime).
Conduct testing and analyse data to identify gaps and drive continuous improvements.
Lead troubleshooting and structured root cause analysis to minimise downtime and recurring issues.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance equipment reliability and stability
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation (e.g. drawings, BOMs) to support production readiness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure timely project delivery.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Education
Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering with 2–5 years of relevant hands-on experience.
A relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience in assembly, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of complex opto-mechatronic systems is preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in CAD (e.g. Siemens NX)
Strong knowledge of precision mechanics and tolerancing
Experience in automation and system design
Programming skills (PLC, MCU, Python, LabVIEW)
Basic electronics knowledge (sensors, actuators, wiring)
Calibration and alignment of motion or optical systems to join our team in developing and enhancing high-precision mechatronic systems in a production environment.
