Key Responsibilities

Facilitate inquiry-based learning

Observe children closely, listen to their ideas, and design language-rich experiences that extend their thinking, communication, and early literacy development.

Plan and document learning

Co-plan integrated learning experiences with co-teachers, document children’s learning, and participate in reflective discussions to inform next steps.

Create an inclusive classroom environment

Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families, support children’s social-emotional development, and maintain a safe, organised learning environment.

Collaborate with the teaching team

Participate in curriculum planning, pedagogical meetings, professional development, and school events, while working closely with colleagues to ensure consistency and quality across the programme.

Support curriculum quality

Ensure classroom practice aligns with the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) Framework and the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF) while remaining responsive to children’s interests and inquiries.

Requirements

Recognised early childhood qualification

Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) or equivalent qualification recognised by ECDA.

ECDA certification

Must hold a valid ECDA L2 certification (or meet the requirements to obtain ECDA L2 certification).

Teaching experience

Experience in a preschool or childcare setting is preferred.

Core competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate within a teaching team, and a reflective, inquiry-oriented approach to teaching.
