Job description for Vintage/Select Clothing Shop Operations at Loop Garms

Do you believe that people should have the freedom to dress in the way they feel most comfortable in?

Do you believe that whatever one’s reason is for wearing what they wear, that people should have the freedom to be them, no matter how it looks like to others?

Do you believe in building a judgement-free and inclusive community of people who like and appreciate vintage clothing, or clothing in general?

Do you believe in dreaming big, taking the path less travelled, and understand that while stepping up to your passion with like-minded comrades working alongside you, that you are taking a risk too?

If so, you might just be the newest team member that we’ve been looking for.

One year and five months on, we’ve decided that it’s about time to look for that special someone to share the work with - not only when the shutters go up, but more importantly - when the shutters go down. Because that’s when the real work begins.

If you believe that you can help shape, shift, and build on the vintage clothing culture in Singapore, we’d love to meet you.

——

We’re looking for somebody who believes in planting seeds for the future. Ideally, this somebody is here to stay, because forests don’t grow overnight. It takes time and patience, and that’s two things you need to have.

Running Loop Garms is, to put it bluntly, not the easiest thing to do. It’s a lot of early hours, late nights, repetitive lunches, folding, steaming, hanging, pricing, unfolding… the list goes on, but you get the idea. It’s a challenge, for sure, but we promise that it will be a fun and fulfilling one.

And if you’re beginning to think that it’s just a retail assistant job, we’ll tell you right now that it is anything but. You’ll be managing not only operations, but also be in-charge of buying - not just from customers, but gradually as well with our buying team, for the shop’s own inventory.

It’s an incredibly small team, so every voice is important. Because of the team size, you have to be prepared to be responsible for more than one thing. Each of us here will contribute as a unique individual, but most importantly, we will grow together as part of a whole. Our individual shortcomings will be complemented by the strengths of others. We are not looking for a short-term fix, and neither are we looking for just arms and legs. We are looking for someone who believes they can contribute to create something bigger - we are looking for family members who will lay the foundation together with us for a change that is here to stay.

And because building relationships is important to us, you must have an innate ability to chat and relate to people on the daily. Conversations come naturally to you - this is incredibly important as it is through your communication that you will share Loop Garms’ vision of ensuring a safe, all-embracing environment to everybody that comes through.

Lastly, because we deal with mostly clothing in general, you need to have a buildable (if not already existing) interest in vintage clothing. You don’t need to be an expert, but you need to have an open mind and the tenacity to learn about the very commodity we deal with.

——

If you think you know somebody who fits the profile, tag them in this post!

Better yet, if you think you’re that somebody we’re looking for, drop us a little introduction of yourself, and attach your CV while you’re at it! We will contact you to set up a good time to get to know each other more.

Whoever joins us, we guarantee that YOU will be making a change that is here to stay.

Minimum Requirements:

- Must be above 18 years of age

- For males, you must have already completed your National Service (NS)

Do send your emails to [email protected] by the end of August! ❤
