Job description for Video Journalist at Mothership

WHY join us?

Mothership is Singapore’s leading youth-focused digital news platform — and a trusted voice with over 10 years of media presence in Singapore.

As we venture deeper into an era of digital-first journalism, we’re looking for passionate and driven individuals to join us on our next phase of growth. This is a chance to be part of a team that shapes conversations, breaks new ground, and creates stories that matter to Singaporeans.

You will learn from and collaborate with experienced leaders and industry experts, gaining exposure to work that reaches audiences in Singapore and around the world. You’ll see the direct impact of your ideas, creativity, and craft every single day.

At Mothership, people are at the heart of everything we do — our colleagues, our community, and our audience. We’re committed not only to delivering high-quality content, but also to helping you grow personally and professionally. You’ll be supported, challenged, and empowered to build the career you envision.

WHAT is this role about?

As a video journalist, you will work closely with the editorial team to engage, educate and entertain audiences on Mothership’s TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

A snippet of what you can expect to be doing on a day-to-day basis:

  • Plan and execute shareable video content, ranging from voxpops, interviews, profile features to explainers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate new content formats
  • Attend events/briefings and engage external stakeholders/newsmakers to develop video ideas
  • Manage end-to-end production processes
  • Prepare creative and effective social media assets to amplify reach and relatability of video content
  • Track and analyse video performances to gather insights to refine content strategies
  • Present and host videos (optional)

WHO should consider?

Do you identify yourself as a news and social media junkie? Do your friends depend on you for the latest happenings in Singapore?

If you:

  • Have a keen interest in politics, current affairs, lifestyle and/or environment
  • Follow social media trends and happenings closely
  • Possess a keen eye for detail and a critical mind
  • Have a strong command of English
  • Resourceful and able to deliver high quality work under tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently and take initiative in managing responsibilities
  • Are familiar with post-production tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and/or CapCut
  • Proficiency in a vernacular language is advantageous

... we’d love for you to be part of our team!

HOW do you go about applying?

If you are interested in speaking with us, apply with your resume (in PDF form). Do also provide relevant samples of your past work along with your resume.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
