Job description for Software engineer at Carnot Innovations
Job Description: Software Engineer (Full Stack)
Company: Carnot Innovations
Role: Software Engineer (Web & API)
About Us
At Carnot Innovations, we are building a cutting-edge software platform to help smart buildings perform better maintenance, optimize operations, and save energy. Our team combines data engineering, machine learning, and building automation expertise to transform how commercial HVAC and ACMV systems operate.
The Role
We are seeking a versatile Software Engineer to bridge the gap between our user interface and our backend systems. In this role, your primary focus will be leading the development of our Vue.js powered Single Page Application (SPA), designing stunning data visualizations that make complex building data easy to understand.
Additionally, you will cross over into the backend to look up, maintain, and update our Python-based REST APIs (Flask). You won't be building the data pipelines from scratch, but you need to be comfortable enough in Python to create or modify endpoints that your frontend features require.
Key Responsibilities
Web Development: Build, maintain, and scale our web frontend using Vue.js.
Data Visualization: Design and implement stunning, responsive data visualizations that translate complex machine learning and energy forecast data into actionable insights.
API Integration & Updates: Look up, debug, and update our existing Python REST APIs to support new frontend features and ensure seamless data flow.
Collaboration: Work closely with our Data Engineers and Building Automation Engineers to understand the data architecture and how users interact with HVAC/ACMV system insights.
Background & Requirements
Frontend Expertise: Solid experience with JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks (Vue.js experience is highly preferred).
Backend Familiarity: Working knowledge of Python and experience interacting with or building RESTful APIs).
Core Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn independently are essential.
Communication: Good communication skills to effectively collaborate across engineering disciplines.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Bonus Points
Experience with SQL and relational databases.
Experience with modern data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js, ECharts).
An interest in smart buildings, IoT, or HVAC/ACMV systems.
