Job description for Research and Partnerships Intern at Soristic

This role is tied to a youth community internship programme and thus applicants have to be Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident aged 17 to 25 years old:
- Available for a 5-6 months full-time internship
- Current student from ITE/ Polytechnics/ Autonomous Universities, or other educational institutions (e.g. private education institutions and overseas institutions) or currently in transition phase (e.g. awaiting for University) and keen in the social and community sector.
- Able to communicate with peers and actively participate in group discussions during service sessions and group learning activities.
This internship offers hands-on experience at the intersection of research, community engagement, and partnership development. You will strengthen your analytical thinking, relationship-building skills, and understanding of the social sector.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Social Sector & Policy Research
- Conduct in-depth research on social sector trends, community needs, and emerging challenges.
- Review academic literature, policy papers, sector reports, and credible sources to develop evidence-based insights.
- Synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations that support programme design, partnerships, and organisational strategy.
2. Qualitative Research & Insight Generation
- Support literature reviews, interview analysis, and thematic coding.
- Assist in developing research frameworks, interview guides, and other data-collection tools.
- Translate qualitative insights into summaries, briefs, and presentations for internal and external use.
3. Writing, Documentation & Communications
- Prepare research briefs, executive summaries, presentations, and stakeholder-facing materials.
- Communicate findings in clear, compelling formats tailored to different audiences.
- Contribute to content such as case studies, thought-leadership pieces, and internal knowledge documents.
4. Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support mapping of potential partners across community groups, non-profits, corporates, and government agencies.
- Assist in outreach efforts, coordination of meetings, and preparation of partnership decks or materials.
- Maintain and update stakeholder databases to track relationships and opportunities.
5. Engagement with Community Organisations
- Work closely with ground-up groups, social service agencies, and community leaders to understand their challenges and priorities.
- Support site visits, workshops, conversations, and co-creation sessions with partners.
- Document insights and translate them into recommendations for programme or partnership development.
6. Support for Business Development
- Assist in drafting proposals, grant applications, pitch decks, and strategic documents.
- Conduct landscape scans to identify new collaboration or funding opportunities.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes:
- To be exposed to social sector trends, community needs, and policies,
- To be able to conduct qualitative research through literature reviews, interviews, and thematic analysis, and translate findings into actionable insights.
- To apply writing and communication skills by preparing research reports, executive summaries, and stakeholder-facing materials.
- To participate in partnership development by mapping potential partners, supporting outreach, coordinating meetings, and maintaining stakeholder databases.
- To gain knowledge in engaging with community organisations through site visits, workshops, and co-creation sessions, documenting insights for programme or partnership improvements.
- To learn how to support business development by drafting proposals, grant applications, pitch decks, and identifying new collaboration or funding opportunities.
Duration of Internship: 6 months
Daily Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 9.00am - 6.00pm
Occasional weekend work for special events/projects
