Job description for Project Manager at Insignia
Role Summary
The Technical Project Manager owns end-to-end delivery of one or more Data & AI engagements built on Databricks. You combine classical project management discipline (scope, schedule, budget, risk) with hands-on technical fluency — enough to challenge designs, unblock engineers, and translate fluently between business stakeholders and the data engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
• Plan, execute, and close projects from kickoff to handover, on time and within budget.
• Own the project plan, RAID log, status reports, change requests, and steering materials.
• Run Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retros) and adapt cadence to client needs.
• Manage scope rigorously: prevent scope creep, drive change control, and protect margin.
Technical Leadership
• Partner with the Tech Lead / Solution Architect to validate designs and surface delivery risk early.
• Understand the Databricks Lakehouse architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold), ingestion patterns, Unity Catalog, and workflows enough to ask the right questions.
• Drive engineering quality: code review discipline, CI/CD, environment hygiene, and documentation.
Stakeholder Management
• Be the single point of accountability for the client at engagement level.
• Manage executive expectations through clear, structured communication.
• Coordinate across client business, IT, vendors, and internal pods (data engineering, analytics, ML).
Team & Resourcing
• Manage a pod of Data Engineers, Analysts, and rotating specialists.
• Forecast resourcing, manage utilization, and flag risks to the Head of Delivery early.
• Coach team members and run effective performance and feedback conversations.
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years in IT project management, with 3+ years managing data, analytics, or AI projects.
• Hands-on experience delivering at least one production data platform engagement on Databricks (or equivalent: Snowflake, Synapse, BigQuery).
• Strong working knowledge of: Spark/PySpark concepts, Delta Lake, SQL, cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), and CI/CD for data pipelines.
• Certified or experienced in Agile/Scrum; PMP or PRINCE2 a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management; able to run a SteerCo with C-level participants.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Preferred Qualifications
• Databricks Lakehouse Fundamentals or Data Engineer Associate certification.
• Background as a Data Engineer or Solution Architect before transitioning to PM.
• Experience with regulated industries (banking, telco, healthcare) or retail/FMCG.
