Job description for Preschool Teacher (Tech Education) at Saturday Kids
We want to unlock every kid's natural learning ability through digital literacy, and we need your help!
About Saturday Kids
What if kids are intrinsically motivated to learn?
At Saturday Kids, students don't just learn to code. They code to learn. We cannot teach kids everything there is to know. But what we can do is bring out the curiosity in kids, encourage them to look at problems and think "I can figure this out myself". Saturday Kids learn how to learn.
We love teaching kids and letting them engage meaningfully with technology. We've seen the many amazing things kids can come up with and want them to have a chance to use technology as a tool to express their creativity, think critically, solve problems and along the way discover what they're passionate about.
We've seen how creativity, technology, and design are being used by people around the world to solve humanity's problems and impact people's lives, and we think - why not start our kids young?
As a social enterprise, our believes translate beyond what we teach. Social impact matters to us, which is why we also run Code In The Community, a free coding programme for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Be part of the team
We’re looking for that special someone who’d be interested in being at the intersection of both developing and delivering learning experiences in tech education. This is a part-time role with potential to convert to full-time if things go well. At the heart of your work will be journeying with preschool kids ages 5-6 as they learn about tech through a broad-based curriculum that encourages creativity and lateral thinking.
What excites you about the role
- Interacting with preschool kids and taking them on coding and tech adventures in the classroom while also learning about the wonders of the world through their eyes
- Facilitating classes of small group sizes (1:6 ratio)
- Having a ton of creative freedom to teach tech curriculum content for kids
- Work-life balance - work just 10-20 hours per week
- A purposeful career at a social enterprise that directly involves you bringing greater digital literacy and access to opportunities in tech education to kids in Singapore
What excites us about you
- Passionate about equipping preschool kids with the skills they need to thrive in a tech-driven world
- Preferably equipped with a diploma in early childhood education or its equivalent, though not compulsory
- Adept at classroom facilitation at the preschool level
- Explain like I’m five – fluent in communicating concepts in simple, kid-friendly terms
- Able to skilfully manage stakeholders and the child’s education partners such as parents, teachers and schools
- Available to work flexibly across weekdays and weekends as necessary
- Logical thinker and problem-solving mindset
- No experience in tech or coding is required, but a willingness to learn is key
- Fresh grads are welcome to apply!
- Freelance early childhood educators are also welcome to apply - remuneration will be at $35-50/hour depending on experience, with additional transport reimbursement
If you're passionate about technology education and are great with kids, we'd love to talk to you. To all you weird and wonderful people interested in working with us, send us your CV, a line of code/ poem/ song/ rap/ something, and a short description about yourself!
