NIE is seeking a highly organised and visionary Manager of Learning Innovations to lead efforts in advancing evidence-based and data-driven innovations in teaching and learning. The Manager will lead a team of specialists and work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate emerging technologies, learning analytics, and innovative pedagogical practices into NIE’s teaching and learning ecosystem.

The appointee will be responsible for setting strategic goals for the team, managing resources, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. This includes guiding faculty and teams to leverage learning analytics, designing personalised learning experiences, and ensuring alignment with institutional goals to improve academic outcomes. This is a 2-year contract position.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide clear strategic direction for the team, establishing achievable goals and fostering innovation in data-driven teaching and learning.
  • Manage team resources (e.g., tools, software, training) to support the integration of educational technologies and learning analytics into faculty development and course design.
  • Oversee performance by assigning tasks strategically, offering expert guidance, and fostering skill development to ensure team alignment with institutional goals.
  • Communicate team achievements and project outcomes related to innovations in teaching and learning to stakeholders and IN-Learning’s management.
  • Oversee team performance reviews, provide coaching, and create an environment that fosters collaboration and open communication.

Champion Data-Driven Innovation in Teaching and Learning:

  • Lead the development and integration of evidence-based frameworks and learning analytics dashboards to optimise teaching and learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with specialists across NIE to analyse datasets, uncover insights, and inform continuous improvements in teaching practices and learning environments.
  • Present data-driven findings and innovative design solutions to faculty and project stakeholders to enhance pedagogical outcomes.
  • Facilitate faculty development programs that equip educators with the skills needed to use learning analytics and educational technology effectively.

Planning and Facilitating Professional Development for Faculty:

  • Spearhead the development and facilitation of professional development programs that help faculty integrate data analytics and emerging technology into their courses to improve student outcomes.
  • Work with cross-departmental teams to develop strategies for engaging faculty in data-informed instructional design and personalised learning approaches.
  • Collaborate with IN-Learning’s Engagement Planning and Research team to disseminate knowledge and foster institute-wide improvements in data-driven teaching.

Research and Stay Abreast of Best Practices:

  • Stay informed about emerging trends in educational technologies and learning analytics on a local and global scale, ensuring that the team remains at the forefront of data-driven teaching and learning innovations.
  • Conduct research on pedagogical innovations for translation into practice.

Lead Special Projects:

  • Lead and participate in special projects to advance teaching and learning through data analytics and innovative educational technologies.
  • Collaborate across teams to develop and implement data-informed instructional strategies, using teacher-facing and student-facing dashboards to provide real-time feedback for continuous improvement in faculty performance and student learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • A University degree in Learning Sciences, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in educational technology, learning analytics, or instructional design, with demonstrated leadership in integrating educational technologies into teaching practices.
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring teams in an IHL environment.
  • Strong knowledge of emerging educational technologies, with the ability to incorporate data analytics into teaching and learning.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) will be an advantage, particularly in creating interactive dashboards for faculty and students.
  • Experience in data analysis to uncover themes and trends and the ability to interpret teacher-facing and student-facing learning analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience delivering training programs that support faculty leveraging learning analytics and using emerging educational tools effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner for diverse stakeholders, including faculty and leadership.
