Job Description
At Hypotenuse, interns aren’t here to sit on the sidelines or buy coffee. We empower you to make decisions, contribute creatively and think critically. We want self-starters who are entrepreneurial and want a taste of working in a high-growth, fast-moving start-up.
As a linguist intern, you will be focused on analysing language data, helping our AI improve performance and filling gaps in its understanding. You’ll be directly involved in training our AI and will b e exposed to state-of-the-art machine learning. This will involve working closely with our software engineers and guiding linguistic choices in our engineering (technical engineering skills not required).
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct in-depth research on industry-related, technical topics
- Research and analyse linguistic rules and knowledge management
- Analyse written content and copywriting to form up qualitative and quantitative reports and suggestions for improvement
- Do quality checks and annotation of natural language data, proofreading content to ensure accuracy and fluency
- Working in a start-up, you’ll have a chance to wear multiple hats and get exposed to other business and technical functions as well!
Requirements:
- Excellent command of the English language, with a good grasp of modern slang and expressions
- Ideally some experience in either of: copywriting, linguistics, psychology and/or data science
- Strong attention to detail, committed, organised and able to work well with deadlines
- An experimental mindset and ability to learn fast
- Love working with a driven, fast-paced and passionate team (and a dazzling array of snacks)
