Job description for Legal Officer (Intellectual Property) at Carro
- Assist the various ongoing projects within the Data Science Department from a legal perspective
- Attend meetings with external collaborators and project partners to discuss each party’s scope of work, general rights and responsibilities, confidentiality obligations and IP rights
- Draft and review contracts and other legal documents relating to projects (e.g. memorandum of understanding, non-disclosure agreements, service contracts)
- Oversee the creation and management of Carro IP
- Identify potential areas for patent applications to protect Carro’s pioneering services and solutions
- Conduct extensive patent prior art searches and advise the Data Science Department on patent strategies
- File IP applications and other legal IP documents on behalf of Carro
- Correspond with IPOS and international IP organisations regarding queries and/or objections
- Communicate with and instruct external counsel on IP matters
- Advise Carro in relation to potential trade mark applications
- Provide legal assistance to other departments / subsidiaries
- Draft and review contracts and other legal documents (e.g. employment contracts, master service agreements)
- Provide legal advice on request (e.g. PDPA requirements, employment issues)
- Assist with corporate secretarial duties (e.g. share certificates and registry matters, general Company Act matters)
- JD, LLB or a Bachelor’s degree in a law-related field
- Experience / knowledge in intellectual property law with a minimum 2 years in PQE
- Able to multi-task and manage various projects simultaneously
- Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, initiative, and meticulousness
- Experience / knowledge in M&A
- Experience in working in e-commerce, automotive or similar industry
- Interest in working in a startup / IT environment
