Job description for Java Developer at NCR Singapore Pte Ltd
Summary:
This position is in the exciting area of NCR's ATM Self-Service Banking Solution. The developer will work with the PS Manager or Project Manager in the area of project development, implementation, system integration and system support.
Key Responsibilities
- Position works with the client to establish formal solution requirements, translates those requirements into installation specifications for the NCR Implementation team and supports the establishment of test scripts used by NCR and the customer to validate the defined requirements; Position supports the implementation team (both NCR and client) and provides recommendations and options for operating the solution successfully within the customer's specific environment
- Required to contribute to all aspects of requirements definition and documentation for each assigned customer; Elicit requirements from customer using consultative skills to ensure customer thoroughly understands solution options and their chosen options
- Document and provide feedback within NCR as to areas for proposed improvement within this service and solution implementation
- Maintain compliance with project specific standards, processes and tools for Requirements Definition and Management
- Proactively communicate with design and developer work efforts to ensure understanding and adherence with customer requirements
- Analyze current system functionality to determine new system requirements against defined business requirements
- Assist development team in design sessions, and translate information gathered in those sessions into
- Provide subject matter expertise throughout the development life cycle (design, coding, testing, implementation and customer acceptance)
- Plans, schedules, monitors, evaluates and directs projects to ensure a complete business solution is implemented; Contributes to project recommendations.
- Researches and writes sections of proposals
- Helps to prepare client transition plans
- Works with Business partners to identify, gather, prioritize and incorporate business requirements into the solution
- Maintain, administer and support tools used in deploying the solution
- Assists the project manager in implementing innovative industry and horizontal solutions to the client; Assists the Project Manager in producing a project plan using MS Project and in executing the plan using Global PM Methodology
Qualification and Desired Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related Information Technology or related discipline.
- 3-5 years related experience in Java, J2EE programming on server side application.
- Previous experience in managing projects focused around the early deployment of solutions (hardware and software)
- Experience in client- development using Java and J2EE technologies; Experience working with advanced Java concepts. Object oriented and event-based programming understanding and knowledge.
- Experience building and supporting 7x24 resilient or mission critical systems
- Experience in developing and supporting server application which can run on Linux and Windows platform.
- Must be a strong and effective communicator with the internal and external customers by building relationships, understanding their commitments, and establishing trust and dialogue on how to support and communicate those commitments
- Must be able to consult with the customer to arrive at the requirements that best fits the customers’ business objectives and needs
- Excellent writing and documentation skills required
- Must be able to work with internal and external customers to help them with their deliverables, as well as originating and adding value with new deliverables.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience in client-server applications development using Java and J2EE technologies.
- Experience in J-Boss based application on Linux platform.
- Experience in building or integrating Web-Services applications (WebSphere or IIS)
- Experience working with Java and scripting languages.
