Job description for Freelance Jewellery Design Illustrator at Love Juno Gems
Freelance Jewellery Design Illustrator
Remote · Paid per commission · Love Juno Gems
About us
Love Juno Gems is a bespoke fine jewellery house. We make pieces that hold something personal: breastmilk, umbilical cord, cremation ash, a lock of hair, a little of a pet's fur, set in solid gold with precious stones. Every commission is one of a kind and made to order for the person who will wear it.
The role
We're looking for a freelance illustrator to draw our bespoke commissions. You'll work from our brief and hand back design concepts that we present to the client for approval. This is freelance work, engaged and paid per commission, at roughly two to three commissions a month. Volume moves with our order book, so some months are quieter than others.
The work is fully remote. Singapore-based is a plus for the occasional conversation, but it isn't essential.
What you'll do
- Work from our written brief. We specify the stone shape and size, the setting and the gemstones.
- Draw three to five design concepts for each commission.
- Refine the chosen concept through revision rounds until it's right for the client.
- Present the artwork in our existing slide template, ready for us to send on.
What matters to us
- A strong design eye, and beautiful, confident drawing. This counts for more than anything else on this list.
- Fluency in Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator or something similar.
- No CAD required. This is illustration work. The technical side is handled on our end.
- Jewellery experience is welcome but not required. We supply the spec, so you can put your attention on the drawing.
One thing worth saying about the work. The piece you draw will usually be worn every day by someone keeping a chapter of their life close, and it tends to matter to them a great deal. It asks for care and a light hand. If that appeals to you, please get in touch.
