THE OPPORTUNITY

We distribute and build beer and beverage alcohol brands in Singapore. We have strong brands, established trade relationships and a well-run physical business. Our presence on screens needs a boost.

This role exists to address our digital-shelf presence, EDM approach and online brand connectivity. It is about improving our digital shelf on two fronts: our own platforms, and those of our in-market partners - retailers, marketplaces, delivery platforms and on-trade customers. The objective is to connect our brands to the right audience through those screens, build awareness and genuine brand connection, and convert that into a sale and then a repeat purchase and loyal brand follower, whether the consumer buys directly online or walks into a store/venue and asks for us by name.

There is currently no dedicated resource, no dedicated budget and no live playbook for digital commerce and social media, you would have a blank canvas to build it all. That is precisely what makes it worth doing.

THE MANDATE — FIVE PHASES

This is a complete commercial cycle, start to finish, in three to six months. You will run all five phases.

1. Review and understand our current landscape

• Audit our current platforms and tools end to end: what they are, what they are genuinely capable of, and - just as important - where they are restricted, under-utilised or not fit for purpose.

• Audit our digital shelf across our in-market partners: product detail pages, imagery, copy, keywords, attributes, ratings and reviews, search visibility and merchandising placement.

• Review how comparable distributors across the region use digital commerce and social. What are they doing that works, what does it cost them, and what can we transfer?

• Deliver a clear, evidence-based situation assessment.

2. Strategise - build the plan

• Model out the strategies and operating plans to optimise our digital commerce and on-screen brand presence - by brand, by platform, internal and external means.

• Make it measured and profitable. Every recommendation should carry an expected return and sales uplift, a cost, and a way of proving whether it worked. We would also need the exit strategy if it fails and indications of the potential modifications as we unlock future success.

• Prioritise ruthlessly: identify the handful of moves that deliver disproportionate return, and sequence the rest.

3. Sell it in - build and present the business case

• Turn the strategy into a business case and present it to our internal management team.

• Then present it to our brand partners - the brand owners we represent - to unlock their approval and their funding (if required).

• This is the hinge of the whole role. There is no budget today. The budget you work with is the budget you earn by making a persuasive, numbers-backed case to people who did not ask for it. Very few people get to do this at any stage of their career, let alone as a student.

4. Execute - make it happen

• Deliver the plan yourself: content creation/sourcing and publishing, product page and listing upgrades, marketplace and delivery platform merchandising, community management, and partner-side activation.

• Work alongside our sales team to align digital activity with the trade and promotional calendar.

• Build the playbook. Everything you learn - what works, what does not, how to brief it, how to set it up, what good looks like - gets documented into a repeatable playbook this business can run long after you leave. This is the legacy piece, and we take it seriously.

5. Measure - analyse and report throughout

• Build a simple, honest measurement framework covering reach, engagement, digital availability, share of search, conversion and commercial return.

• Report continuously - not just at the end. Regular readouts to the Brand Development Director, periodic updates to internal management, and results back to the brand partners who funded the activity.

• Be willing to report what failed. We would far rather know early.

HOW THIS ROLE ACTUALLY WORKS

We would rather be straight with you now than have you discover it in week three:

• You will be supported, not supervised. The Brand Development Director is your sponsor and will back you, open doors, challenge your thinking and get you in front of the right people. What they will not do is allocate your daily tasks. The agenda is yours build, share and deliver to.

• You need an intrapreneurial mindset. No dedicated resource, no standing budget, no playbook — you are building the function, not joining it. If you need structure handed to you, this role will frustrate you. If you have ever started something from nothing, you will recognise the feeling.

• Your work will ship and it will be judged commercially. Everything you make goes live in front of real consumers and real trade partners, with real consequence.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Essential

• Penultimate- or final-year student (university or polytechnic) in marketing, business, communications, media or a related field — or a recent graduate available full-time.

• Legally eligible to undertake a full-time internship in Singapore, and of legal drinking age (18+), which is a requirement for working on alcohol brands.

• Demonstrable evidence that you start things. A personal brand, a side hustle, a student club account you grew, a content channel, an online store, a portfolio. We care far more about this than your grades.

• Able to build and stand behind an argument. You will be presenting to senior internal management and to external brand partners, and you will be challenged.

• Comfortable creating: Canva or equivalent, mobile video capture and editing, strong written English.

• Numerate and evidence-led. You should be able to open a spreadsheet, find the story in it and tell it in three sentences.

• Resilient. You will hear "no" from platforms, partners and internally, and will need to find the way round.

Desirable

• Working knowledge of Shopee, Lazada, RedMart, or online alcohol and grocery delivery platforms — as a seller, a user, or an obsessive observer.

• Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, TikTok Creator tools, or GA4 basics.

• Any exposure to distribution, FMCG route-to-market or the drinks trade.

• An interest in beer, drinks culture, hospitality or the on-trade.

• Exposure to alcohol marketing codes or age-gating requirements. If not, you will learn them in week one — responsible marketing is non-negotiable here.

No coding or technical development skills are required.

WHAT YOU WILL GET

• A complete commercial cycle in one internship — diagnose, strategise, build the case, win the funding, execute, measure. Most people wait five years for this scope.

• Direct sponsorship from the Brand Development Director, with regular exposure to senior internal management.

• External stakeholder experience — presenting and negotiating with international brand partners, which is rare and highly transferable.

• A portfolio of shipped work and a documented playbook carrying your name, still in use after you leave. A genuine legacy, not a filed report.

• Commercial grounding in beverage alcohol distribution — route-to-market, retailer and on-trade dynamics, promotional mechanics and category management.

• A written reference and performance review on completion, plus consideration for future openings.

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. This role involves the marketing of alcoholic beverages; applicants must be of legal drinking age and committed to responsible marketing practice.
