Job description for Design and Merchandising Intern at Finix Wear
- Assist the Creative Lead in creating an aligned aesthetic across products, fabrics, and colour
- Support the Creative Lead in reviewing assortment and implementing the necessary action points
- Ensure that Finix’s offering continues to drive the brand forward collection on collection and delivers quality and designs that are true to Finix’s DNA
- Ensure that packaging and presentation is in line with Finix’s band guidelines
- Show an astute awareness of current trends; use this knowledge to guide and support the Design Team
- Conduct research and produce sketches according to the timeline and the framework of Finix.
- Put together a detailed garment technical pack to fully translate the design concept/sketches
- Assist in product launches, campaigns, events, partnerships and other initiatives to help build the brand, drive sales, and increase engagement
- Support the Operations Team in setting up and executing e-commerce and retail operations (inventory planning, management, analysis and projection)
- Provide operational support in retail customer service and sales when needed
- Source materials, fabrics, parts, and packaging
- Manage sampling process - liaising with the Sampling Team to ensure pre-production samples are right where it needs to be for production
- Liaise with the manufacturer to ensure final products are right where it needs to be - no cutting of corners, malpractices, quality checks, etc.
- Quality control and checks - making sure production is going the way it should and no unethical practices.
- Schedule manufacturing timeline and meeting those deadlines
- Estimated budgeting
- A passionate and curious team player who has an interest in the fashion industry, art, wellness, travel and music
- A keen eye for aesthetics and ability to deliver design integrity true to Finix’s DNA
- Demonstrates extensive technical knowledge and a great understanding of textiles and colour
- Technically trained in men’s and/or womenswear
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud programs, in particular Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate
- Able to handle fashion-related 3D software (e.g. Clo3D) - but not mandatory
- Possess a positive attitude and growth mindset; strong ability to work independently
- Good understanding of customers’ needs and the brand's aesthetic
