Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Deputy General Manager – Dyeing & Finishing to provide technical leadership and operational direction across the Dyeing, Finishing, and Dry Finishing departments.
The role is responsible for achieving production, quality, delivery, and cost targets while ensuring effective colour development, process control, resource utilisation, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations across dyeing, finishing, dry finishing, and colour development.
- Plan machine capacity, manpower, materials, dyes, and chemicals according to production priorities.
- Monitor production output, colour matching, lab dips, machine downtime, waste, and batch performance.
- Resolve critical shade, colour-matching, pre-setting, and post-setting issues.
- Improve right-first-time output, machine efficiency, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
- Develop and maintain dye recipes, process specifications, colour records, and technical databases.
- Drive process improvement through new technology, process re-engineering, Kaizen, Lean practices, and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities support maximum machine uptime.
- Manage suppliers and select suitable dyes, chemicals, auxiliaries, and processing methods.
- Monitor departmental budgets, operating costs, process waste, and resource utilisation.
- Develop team capability through coaching, training, performance management, and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure compliance with SAP processes, health and safety standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with Planning, Knitting, Technical Lab, Warehouse, HR, and other production functions.
- Support customer visits and resolve technical issues related to colour, shade, finishing, and product performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Textile Technology, preferably specialising in Colouration or Finishing.
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in textile dyeing and finishing.
- Strong experience managing dyeing, finishing, colour development, and manufacturing operations.
- Sound knowledge of dye recipes, chemicals, machinery, colour control, and fabric finishing technology.
- Proven ability to manage production targets, quality standards, process improvement, and cost control.
- Experience managing the overall quality function within a textile mill is highly preferred.
- Product development experience will be an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, SAP, preventive maintenance, and health and safety practices.
