Job description for CrossFit/Functional Fitness Coach at Innervate Fitness

Job Description

As a CrossFit / Functional Fitness Coach at Innervate, you are the primary point of contact between our members and their training. Your core job is to deliver high-quality group coaching that keeps members safe, progressing and coming back. Beyond the class floor, you contribute to the broader member experience and the operational rhythm of the gym.

Coaching & Class Delivery

Lead 4–6 group functional fitness classes per day across CrossFit, strength and conditioning formats

Brief each class clearly: explain the intent of the session, demonstrate movements, set expectations on intensity and scaling

Actively coach throughout the class: correct form, scale movements appropriately for individual members and manage class flow and timing

Run warm-ups and cool-downs that prepare members for the work and support recovery

Adapt programming on the fly when needed (injuries, equipment, class size) without compromising the session's intent

Member Development & Retention

Track member progress: know their goals, their limitations, and what they're working on

Provide individualised feedback, scaling options and progression pathways for members at all levels, including new or inexperienced members

Follow up with members who go quiet - a quick message goes a long way

Identify members who would benefit from personal training, specialty programs or our adaptive fitness offerings and make warm referrals

Safety & Floor Management

Maintain a safe training environment at all times: stop unsafe movement immediately and manage class density and layout

Keep equipment organised, clean and in working order, report damage or wear early

Ensure the gym is presentable before and after your shift (resetting equipment, wiping down, sanitising)

Respond appropriately to injuries or medical incidents, applying CPR/AED protocols when required

Community & Culture

Build genuine relationships with members: learn names, remember details, celebrate wins

Participate in and help run gym events, member challenges, in-house competitions and social activities

Contribute to our online community (member group chats, social media features, testimonials) where appropriate

Represent Innervate professionally outside the gym, at events, partner sessions and in the broader fitness community

Continuing Development

Train consistently yourself: your own practice is part of the job

Pursue continuing education (CF-L2, specialty certs, weightlifting, gymnastics, etc.) with our support

Attend coach development meetings, peer coaching sessions and programming reviews

Receive and act on feedback from other coaches, give thoughtful feedback to peers

Cross-Program Contribution (as you grow into the role)

Assist with adaptive fitness sessions delivered under partnerships with other organisations

Contribute to content for our digital fitness platform (movement demos, programming, written content)

Cover classes at the sister location when needed

Support programming, events or operational projects aligned with your interests

Administrative

Log attendance, member notes and incident reports through our gym management system

Communicate clearly with the coaches and management about scheduling, member issues and equipment needs

Be on time and ready to coach for every shift

About the company
Innervate Fitness
Entertainment

Innervate Fitness is a fitness company that offers CrossFit training. It has developed a proprietary training, targeting at at-risk youths, Disabled individuals and Seniors to help mould their character, thinking so that they can channel their energies to positive outcomes.

We carry out CrossFit Classes, which are unique in offerings across all gyms and fitness facilities in Singapore. We also organise various events and have corporate packages for schools and companies to engage the community or to conduct such programs for their employees or students. We have experience in conducting intervention programs and leadership programs for many schools and companies. Our work at Innervate Fitness focuses heavily on using fitness to shape the future of fitness and the next generation of our city. Together with various charitable organisations, we work with various youths, disabled individuals and Senior Citizens whom have been forgotten by their families, schools and society. As a registered Social Enterprise with RAISE Singapore, we rehabilitate and reintegrate them back into society through CrossFit and Fitness programs. Using Crossfit as a medium, we teach lifeskills, develop character and give them an opportunity to engage in a sport that would develop a strong positive self esteem.

Innervate Fitness is the main organiser of Operation Broken Wing, a regional charity event created to allow CrossFitters to engage in social good through fitness. Our purpose is to bring the Fitness community together for a meaningful cause, raising funds for youth at risk. In the month of October, the Fitness community around the Asia Pacific Region will carry out their own versions of Operation Broken Wing - be it at a Box or via a large-scale event. The community will be coming together to make a difference

OBW2016 has concluded with a total of 7 cities and 700 participants across all cities. Together, as a movement, we have raised $250,000 for the forgotten youth!
