Meetup Singapore: Where all the cool kids of tech, marketing, and BD hang

If you haven’t heard about this swanky platform, you might be living under a rock. In case you haven’t heard, there’s a website on the block called Meetup. Well, what exactly is the website for? As its name suggests, Meetup is a platform to meet or join groups in your area. Worried you’ll be left out? No way! Meetup Singapore has groups that cover almost every interest. From book clubs to social networking to business, the versatile site is a great point to start your hunt for new connections.

How to use Meetup, and why you should totally use it

So… how does this work? For those who are new to Meetup, the thought of scrolling through an insane number of groups to find The One might be a little stress inducing. Well, here’s your basic starter kit for Meetup:

Create your profile

This one’s easy peazy. All you need is a cool picture of yourself, along with a bio. Consider injecting your personality into your profile! This will make it easier for groups to find you, and for you to find groups. In addition, using Meetup for business networking will see you adding several business related keywords into your bio. After all, you do want to remain professional

Uhh what groups?

Some of us might go into the site knowing exactly what groups they’re interested in. If you fall into this category, simply type the keyword, for example ‘designers’, into the search bar! But since many of us are sure to be a little lost on this front, Meetup gets the ball rolling by providing several keyword tiles. By clicking on the ones you like, the site automatically suggests groups that fit in with your interests. From there, you’ll be able to narrow down the type of groups you’d like to join, and be exposed to events you might be interested to attend.

Going for events

Face-to-face meetings are still the number one way to connect with like-minded individuals. Once you’ve identified the type of events you’ll like to attend, go for them! Sure, it might be tempting to chicken out the first time, but putting yourself in prime position to connect with new people is one big step towards stellar networking!

So, it’s really as simple as 1, 2, and 3. Following these three basic steps will be the easiest way to kickstart your Meetup Singapore journey.
