#ilovemycareer Conversations with Kimberly Ang – Consumer Market Knowledge Associate Manager at P&G

Name: Kimberly Ang
Company: Procter & Gamble (P&G)
Role: Consumer Market Knowledge Associate Manager

How did you end up at a consumer market knowledge role at P&G?

I interned in the company in the same function and felt that it was the type of role I wanted to do so I agreed to convert for a full time role and have never looked back since 🤗

What is it about your job that you love so much?

I love that it is so balanced – we look at both quantity and quality in data. We interact with consumers and do qualitative work, while analyzing market trends and data in a quantitative way. I love it that I’m the voice of the consumers and am able to influence the organization in a way that would make a big impact. Lastly, I love that everyday is a learning journey. I’m gaining new knowledge everyday from the work that I do and the people that I meet, at the same time imparting my knowledge to other people.

What is a typical day at work like, doing consumer market knowledge work in P&G?

There is no typical day at work – some days I’m at a consumer’s house in Philippines doing research and insights work, some days I’m in a Pasar in Indonesia learning about shopper behavior and other days I’m in a hipster cafe in Thailand talking and brainstorming ideas with KOLs. But of course on the rest of the days, I’m in the Singapore office doing business analysis and forecasting.

My First Work Trip ☺

What are some words you would use to describe the community/environment of P&G?

It is an inclusive and collaborative environment that allows individuals to learn and grow together. My colleagues are awesome. They are smart, driven and genuine people who work hard and play hard.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

My team and I disrupting the market and bringing the most sought-after innovations to the industry 😎

Any words of advice to those who are looking to pursue a career in your field?

Always start from the consumer and never be afraid to bring new ideas into the meeting. Stand your ground and push for what is right. Be open-minded and always have a learning mindset.
