Job description for System Engineer at Puritec Technologies (S) Pte Ltd
1. Position Summary
The company is seeking a System Engineer with industrial automation and control system background to support project execution, site coordination, supervision, testing, and commissioning activities.
The role is primarily focused on project coordination and site supervision, including managing installation activities, coordinating subcontractors, supporting customers, and ensuring project execution meets technical and schedule requirements.
The successful candidate shall also be capable of performing hands-on troubleshooting, testing, modification, and practical site work whenever required during installation, startup, commissioning, or emergency troubleshooting situations.
The candidate is not expected to be a full-time PLC programmer but must possess sufficient technical knowledge in PLC, instrumentation, industrial networking, and control systems to support troubleshooting, engineering review, FAT/SAT, and field coordination activities.
2. Hiring Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial automation, control system projects, or industrial electrical/instrumentation projects
Experience supervising installation, testing, commissioning, or site execution activities is preferred
Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup support, and troubleshooting activities is preferred
Hands-on site experience in control panel, instrumentation, or industrial electrical systems is preferred.
3. Technical Requirements
Candidates shall possess practical knowledge in the following areas:
PLC & Automation Systems
Basic to intermediate PLC troubleshooting.
Understanding of PLC IO systems and field signal integration.
HMI and SCADA system understanding.
Control panel systems and field instrumentation.
Basic understanding of control philosophy and sequence operation.
Alarm and interlock systems.
Industrial Communication
Knowledge of one or more of the following:
Ethernet/IP
Profinet
Modbus TCP/IP
Modbus RTU
EtherCAT
IO-Link
Profibus
OPC UA
HART
Electrical & Instrumentation
Knowledge of:
Electrical schematic interpretation
Control panel wiring practices
Instrument loop checking
Cable schedule and field termination
MCC and VFD integration
Relay and safety relay systems
Sensors, transmitters, and actuators
Pneumatic and instrumentation tubing systems
4. Roles & Responsibilities
The successful candidate shall:
Project Coordination & Supervision
Coordinate project activities with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Supervise installation, wiring, tubing, and field activities.
Monitor site progress and support project schedule execution.
Attend project meetings, technical discussions, and site coordination meetings.
Support procurement and material coordination activities.
Verify installation quality and workmanship.
Ensure site work complies with project requirements and safety standards.
Engineering Support
Review control system architecture and engineering drawings.
Review electrical schematics, IO lists, and panel layouts.
Support technical clarification and engineering coordination.
Verify vendor documents and technical submissions.
Assist with troubleshooting and technical issue resolution.
Coordinate integration with third-party systems.
Testing & Commissioning
Conduct or support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
Conduct or support Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
Perform IO check, loop check, and functional testing.
Support startup and commissioning activities.
Troubleshoot control system, instrumentation, and electrical issues.
Verify communication between PLC, HMI, SCADA, and field devices.
Support emergency troubleshooting during startup or production issues.
Hands-On Site Support
Perform ad-hoc practical site work whenever required.
Assist with field wiring verification and signal troubleshooting.
Support panel inspection and site modification work.
Support field device replacement or adjustment activities.
Assist technicians during urgent troubleshooting situations.
Support testing using electrical and instrumentation test equipment.
Documentation
Prepare site reports, test records, and commissioning reports.
Update project documentation and as-built drawings.
Maintain software backup and revision records.
Support preparation of FAT/SAT procedures and checklists.
5. Software Knowledge
Candidates should be familiar with:
Siemens TIA Portal
Microsoft Office
Preferred additional knowledge:
SQL database
Industrial cybersecurity
Historian systems
Remote IO systems
Basic networking configuration

8. Preferred Additional Experience
Candidates with experience in UL508A control panel projects, semiconductor or cleanroom facilities, process automation systems, remote IO systems, site commissioning, startup support, and system integration projects will have an advantage.
