Job description for Supply Chain Executive (Export) at SL Metals

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee full export function from order to shipment completion

Prepare export shipping documents: invoice, credit note, packing list, delivery order, certificate of origin, etc.

Liaise with bank on letter of credit (LC) negotiation and documents against payment (D/P) / documents against acceptance (D/A)

Check LC compliance and request LC amendments where necessary

Prepare export documents in accordance with LC requirements / customer requirements / D/A terms, through the bank

Apply appropriate Incoterms (FOB, CIF, CFR, etc.) and advise sales/customers on terms during quotation and contract stage

Liaise with freight forwarder on cargo space booking and shipment arrangement

Ensure receipt of bill of lading draft, fumigation certificate, and customs export declaration from freight forwarder

Liaise with insurance agent on export cargo insurance coverage

Coordinate with warehouse and internal departments to ensure timely export shipment

Update customers on shipping documents and delivery arrangements, including any destination country import/customs clearance documentation required from the exporter's side

Monitor and follow up on export shipment status until delivery

Advise and provide freight cost estimates to sales department for export quotations

Monitor export shipping/freight costs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality

Generate export shipping reports

Provide ad-hoc support for import documentation and shipment arrangements when required


REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and experience:

At least Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Proven experience in shipping function, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

Proficiency in using ERP systems will be an added advantage.

Strong understanding of import/export regulations and customs procedures.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Willing to work in Tuas area (accessible via MRT).
