Job Description
1. Utility & Steam Plant Shift Operations
Perform shift operations, real-time control, and parameter monitoring of high/low-pressure steam boilers and auxiliary systems.
Monitor central utility plant operations via Building Management Systems (BMS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and SCADA to maintain target operating limits.
Conduct regular site field inspections and rounds across utility stations to ensure safe operating conditions and identify early signs of equipment wear, leaks, or anomalies.
Assist in site emergency responses, fire alarm checks, and process upset recoveries in accordance with established safety and operational protocols.
2. Systems Maintenance & Execution
Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across key central utilities, including:
Steam boilers, condensate systems, and water softeners
Water chillers, glycol units, and cooling towers
Air handling units (AHUs) and compressed air systems
Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP)
Log maintenance activities, asset records, and work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Carry out basic automation/PLC troubleshooting and low-tension electrical system checks to resolve technical issues promptly.
3. Compliance, Safety & Optimization
Support the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
Adhere strictly to Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) guidelines, MOM boiler regulatory requirements, and environmental emission limits.
Participate in plant optimization tasks, energy-saving projects, and root-cause analyses (RCA) to improve plant reliability and reduce operational costs.
Job Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
2nd Grade Steam Engineer Certification.
3–5+ years of hands-on experience in central utilities operation and maintenance within pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
Direct hands-on operational experience with boilers, chillers, AHUs, compressed air, and water treatment systems.
Solid understanding of utility unit operations, steam generation, and industrial HVAC/R.
Ability to perform basic automation/PLC troubleshooting and read electrical/P&ID diagrams.
Knowledge of root cause analysis and standard industrial safety methodologies (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability, good team collaboration, self-motivation, and effective communication.
Able to work 12-hour shifts.
