Job description for Senior Process Engineer (Lifecycle Management) at Leica Microsystems
About the role
The Senior Engineer, Design Transfer & Life Cycle Management (DT & LCM) is responsible for leading design transfer, life cycle engineering, and value engineering activities to successfully introduce new and transferred products into mass production while improving quality, cost, and productivity of existing products. This position reports to the DT & LCM Manager and is part of the Life Cycle Management, R&D organization located in Singapore and will be an on-site role.
Key responsibilities
Lead design transfer and new product introduction activities, including process development, commissioning, qualification, and ramp-up to mass production with a strong focus on quality and reliability
Drive manufacturability, yield, and productivity improvements through design for manufacturability reviews, process parameter development, and application of lean manufacturing and standard work principles
Own manufacturing readiness and process documentation, including sequence plans, inspection plans, BOMs, routings, and production times, ensuring accuracy and compliance in SAP
Lead cross-functional quality and improvement initiatives, including FPY improvement, external quality issues, warranty and failure analysis, MRB/ECB participation, and corrective actions
Support continuous improvement and life cycle activities such as VAVE, process yield improvement, vendor and part qualification, and collaboration with R&D, RAQA, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
About you
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or related discipline)
Multiple years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment, including exposure to design transfer or new product introduction
Working knowledge of jig and fixture design using Creo and/or AutoCAD
Experience applying structured problem-solving and process optimization methods such as FMEA, DOE, and yield improvement methodologies
Proficiency with manufacturing systems and tools, including SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Previous experience in optics or high-precision components manufacturing
Warranty analysis, PDOA investigations, or external quality improvement activities
