Job description for R&D Technician at Mushroom Material

In this role, you’ll support targeted research and development projects for our innovative mushroom-based materials. This role is ideal for someone with a mix of technical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for sustainability.


Key Responsibilities:

Production:

Install, operate, and maintain lab equipment for the manufacturing of mycelium-based materials.

Manage consumables, equipment, and day-to-day site operations.

Ensure the consistency and quality of products through precise measurement and process control.

Maintain practical sterility and contamination control standards.

Follow aseptic techniques for critical tasks.

Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling, ensuring we meet targets.


Research and Development Assistance:

Collaborate with engineers and mycologists to set up experiments and trials.

Prepare materials and equipment for experiments and testing.

Assist with data collection, analysis, and documentation of research findings.

Ensure disciplined follow-through and documentation.

Document experimental and production data accurately.


Quality Assurance:

Conduct routine quality checks on products to identify and address defects or inconsistencies.

Support process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and quality of production.


Maintenance and Cleaning:

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and site.

Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe working environment.


Team Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, and mycologists, to support the achievement of project goals.

Share insights and suggestions to improve production processes and research outcomes.


What We Are Looking For:

Hands-on experience working with fungi or mycelium systems

Practical troubleshooting ability in biological environments

Experience operating independently in small teams

Familiarity with contamination control and sterile workflows

Experience in aseptic techniques and general lab practices

Experience running experiments in a lab environment

Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
