Job description for Optical Network Planning Associate at Singapore Telecommunications
1. Study and analyse utilization of the network capacity resources, plan and implement changes to optimise and expand the network.
2. Generate monthly reports via digital inventory to monitor network utilization, analyse trends and provide suggestions for improvement.
3. Ensure all inventory assets, utilization, circuit routings are updated in the digital inventory in a timely manner.
4. Responsible for the inventory record accuracy of ILC infrastructure in Digital Inventory (DI) system including the bilateral fibre connectivity with partners.
5. Enhance the features and usability of the DI to support ILC services and how the circuit assignment can be optimized/automated through DI by working with the portal development team and relevant stakeholders.
6. Streamlined process for inventory control, to achieve leaner and efficient operations.
7. Document network design, configurations topology diagrams for ongoing processes, references and training purposes.
8. Collaborate with various internal stakeholders such as AM, CS, PM for capacity request and new sales order.
9. To work with external parties including bilaterial partners and vendors.
10. Perform Ad-hoc restoration during outage, plan restoration using existing available capacity within specific SLA.
11. Manage different projects, monitor timeline and resources to ensure project delivery within specific timelines.
12. To remain on standby via call during assigned week to support Operations and respond to urgent request and outages for circuit restoration.
13. Goon site for assigned activities to work with vendors for system planning and implementation and migration activities.
14. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Skills for Success:
1. Diploma in Engineering/Telecommunications or in relevant field.
2. Goal-oriented with good analytical skills to solve problem. Candidate must be committed and driven to deliver projects assigned on time.
3. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
4. Experience in telecom environment with focus on transport network, optical transmission and ethernet technologies.
5. Good understanding of transport network architectures including OTN and Ethernet, DWDM.
6. Flexible individual who is adaptable to change with a proactive mindset to take on new challenges.
7. Good technical skill set with knowledge of L2 and L3 networking and strong understanding of TCP/IP, IP addressing, and routing protocols.
8. Experience with networking hardware from major vendors.
