Job description for Kitchen Assistant at Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens
Key Responsibilities
Food and Beverage Support
Assist the Cook and Assistant Cook in preparing food and drinks for residents and staff.
Make bread sandwiches and assist with simple breakfast preparations.
Ensure hygienic handling of all food items.
Dishwashing and Cleaning
Wash residents’ cups, plates, and cutlery after each meal.
Clean cooking utensils, pots, pans, and trays used in food preparation.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen sinks, mop floors, and wipe down stoves and countertops.
Meal Delivery and Collection
Push food and drink trolleys to the wards at designated meal times.
Collect dirty dishes and utensils from wards for cleaning.
Ensure prompt delivery and return of all food-related items.
Kitchen Hygiene Maintenance
Clean kitchen shelves and chillers; ensure raw food and vegetables are stored separately from cooked food.
Dispose of kitchen garbage daily in accordance with hygiene protocols.
Wipe wall-mounted fans and cooker hoods regularly to maintain ventilation cleanliness.
Ad-hoc Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the Cook, Manager (HR & PR), or nursing staff during events or kitchen emergencies.
Provide support during large-scale meal preparations or festive meal services.
