5 years of prior coaching experience with elite, national or state climbers
Qualifications & Skills:
· Possess formal coaching certification(s) in sport and/or allied coaching areas. Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Sport
Coaching or related programme.
· Possess relevant sport-specific coaching certification.
· Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant applications
· Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Job Description:
The Singapore Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Federation seeks a
Head Coach for Speed climbing who would be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, preparation, and performance of the athletes.
The role focuses on delivering competitive outcomes, developing
athletes, and building a positive team culture, while operating within the
organization’s technical, performance, and governance frameworks.
The Head Coach holds final authority for competition-day decisions and
is accountable for how athletes perform, develop, and behave under their
leadership.
The Head coach will report to the General Manager (GM) and work
closely with the High-Performance Manager (HPM), Sport Development
Manager (SDM), Support Staff
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Competitive Performance
Plan and deliver the High-Performance Training Programme aligned with
organisational frameworks.
Lead the technical and strategic preparation of athletes for competition, adopting an
active and direct role in on-ground coaching delivery to develop performance
readiness at the highest level.
Make final decisions on athlete selection, and in-competition adjustments.
· Conduct performance reviews and post-competition analysis.
Athlete Development
Support athletes’ technical, physical, tactical, and mental development.
Set and monitor individual development and performance objectives.
Provide regular feedback, guidance, and performance reviews.
· Develop pathways of athletes identified for the respective competitions.
Support progression through development pathways
Team Leadership & Culture
Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
Establish clear standards of behaviour, professionalism, and accountability
Manage team dynamics, discipline, and communication effectively
Role model organisational values and ethics
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
· Collaborate with the HPM/GM on athletes’ training load, recovery, and readiness
· Engage with the HPM/GM for feedback and professional development
· Communicate effectively with staff, athletes, and parents (where applicable)
· Develop, conduct and supervise the training programme in consultation with the HPM/GM.
Programme & Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and organizational policies
Complete required reports, planning documents, and evaluations on time
Support competitions, events, and organisational initiatives (such as, National Trials
and Competitions, National Coaches Mentorship Programme, Development Courses
and Programmes with Regional/International Federations)
Engage in continuous professional development.
