Job description for ENGINEER, PROJECT (PROCESS) – SEMICONDUCTOR CONSTRUCTION at L & K Engineering
Location: Woodlands
Working Hours: 5 days work week
Willingness to commit to extended hours and night shifts
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and engineering of process and utility systems under the guidance of senior engineers throughout various project phases
Prepare and review engineering deliverables including design criteria, process calculations, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), utility load summaries, equipment datasheets, and technical specifications
Develop system layouts and engineering solutions in accordance with client requirements, project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
Support system sizing calculations, equipment selection activities, capacity verification, and engineering analysis under supervision
Coordinate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, CSA, BIM, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams throughout project execution
Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises
Assist in reviewing vendor technical submissions, equipment proposals, and design documentation
Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations, technical clarifications, and vendor coordination
Provide engineering support during construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and startup activities
Assist in reviewing and resolving technical queries, RFIs, design changes, site issues, and engineering deviations during project execution
Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely resolution of engineering and project-related matters
Support project teams in tracking engineering deliverables and maintaining project documentation
Support system turnover, commissioning, validation, and project handover activities
Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, client specifications, safety requirements, and quality procedures throughout the project lifecycle
Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, design presentations, and project documentation as required
Any ad-hoc duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related engineering discipline
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in process engineering, utility system design, mechanical design, industrial facilities, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or high-technology projects
Experience in engineering design, technical calculations, equipment selection, preparation of engineering deliverables, and multidisciplinary project coordination
Familiarity with process utility systems such as Ultra Pure Water (UPW), Process Cooling Water (PCW), Compressed Dry Air (CDA), Nitrogen, Vacuum, Gas Distribution, Wastewater, or Exhaust Systems would be an advantage
Knowledge of engineering drawings, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, and technical specifications
Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, SolidWorks, or other engineering design tools
Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, process engineering principles, and engineering calculations
Experience in coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams would be an advantage
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment
Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines
Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred to facilitate communication with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders, suppliers, and project counterparts
Willingness to work extended hours or shift arrangements where reasonably required to meet project delivery timelines
