We are seeking a versatile and technically adept Innovation Product Manager to lead the ongoing development, maintenance, and commercialization of a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software platform for customized dental devices produced via 3D printing. The product is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 8, and the role will begin within a institutional innovation program before transitioning into a startup venture. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate who thrives at the intersection of software, healthcare innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1 – Institutional Innovation Program
Develop a deep understanding of the existing CAD software product, including its architecture, features, and user workflows.
Engage with stakeholders — clinicians, dental technicians, researchers, and developers — to identify pain points and evolving user needs.
Translate stakeholder feedback into actionable product requirements and prioritize features for the next development cycle.
Oversee the software maintenance roadmap, ensuring stability, usability, and responsiveness to dynamic user requests.
Collaborate with engineering teams to manage backend/frontend logic and system architecture improvements.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and medical device software standards.
Phase 2 – Startup Transition
Lead the commercialization and scaling of the CAD software product in a startup environment.
Drive product strategy, roadmap, and market expansion with a focus on user adoption and competitive positioning.
Oversee business planning, fundraising, partnership development, and operational execution.
Build and manage cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and customer success.
Demonstrate a strong interest and readiness to lead the startup as a co-founder or executive, should the opportunity arise.
Navigate regulatory, financial, and strategic challenges in bringing a medical software product to market.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in software product management, including maintenance and lifecycle management.
Solid understanding of backend/frontend development logic and system architecture.
Familiarity with CAD software workflows, preferably in medical or dental applications.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholder relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in 3D printing, dental technology, or medical device software industries.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA, CE marking).
Exposure to startup environments or entrepreneurial ventures.
Ability to balance technical depth with business strategy and market insight.
What we offer
A two-stage career pathway: begin within a leading research institution, then transition into a startup leadership role.
Opportunity to shape the future of dental prosthetics through innovation in CAD and 3D printing.
Collaboration with researchers, clinicians, and engineers in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
A chance to build and lead a company from the ground up, with institutional support and a validated product foundation.
