Job description:

Electrical Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination & Site Management

· Coordinate daily site activities to ensure electrical works are executed in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, and construction schedules.

· Attend Daily Tool Box Meetings (TBM) to review safety requirements, site activities, and workforce coordination.

· Participate in key coordination meetings including DABS meetings, logistics meetings, and architectural coordination meetings.

· Conduct regular site inspections and joint site walks with M&E teams, QA/QC personnel, consultants, and subcontractors to monitor progress and quality of work.

2. Permit & Compliance Management

· Apply and manage all required electronic and hardcopy work permits, including WAT permits, Testing & Commissioning permits, and other relevant site permits.

· Ensure all electrical works comply with site safety regulations, permit conditions, and project requirements.

· Coordinate with the permit office to ensure timely approval and validity of permits prior to commencement of works.

3. Material Inspection & Quality Assurance

· Verify incoming electrical materials such as cables, cable trunking, conduit pipes, panels, and related accessories against approved material submittals and delivery orders.

· Ensure materials comply with project specifications, approved shop drawings, and quality standards.

· Arrange and coordinate Resident Technical Officer (RTO) inspections for material approval prior to installation.

4. Equipment Delivery & Logistics Coordination

· Plan and supervise night-time equipment deliveries in compliance with site logistics requirements.

· Verify delivery access routes, lifting locations, crane positions, and equipment movement pathways to ensure safe and efficient handling.

· Coordinate with logistics teams and contractors to prevent site obstructions and ensure smooth delivery operations.

· Arrange RTO inspection for equipment upon arrival at site.

5. Installation Supervision

· Supervise installation of all electrical services to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.

· Monitor installation of cable containment systems, power distribution systems, electrical panels, and associated equipment.

· Coordinate with drafting teams to resolve site clashes or installation constraints and update drawings where necessary.

· Arrange inspection and approval by the Resident Technical Officer (RTO) after installation works.

6. Testing & Commissioning Support

· Assist in the preparation and execution of Testing and Commissioning (T&C) activities for electrical systems.

· Coordinate inspections and reporting for Cx-2 and Cx-3 commissioning stages.

· Support the service team and equipment vendors (e.g., Vertiv) during installation, testing, and system integration.

· Assist the client and commissioning team during:

· Cx-4 and Cx-5 inspections

· Heat Load Testing (HLT)

· Pre-Integrated System Testing (Pre-IST)

· Integrated System Testing (IST)

7. Documentation & As-Built Management

· Review and verify Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLD), layouts, and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

· Prepare and verify As-Built drawings based on actual site installation.

· Coordinate As-Built inspections with the RTO prior to final submission and project handover.

8. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

· Monitor daily work progress and report updates to the Project Manager (PM).

· Prepare inspection reports, commissioning documentation, and technical reports for submission to consultants and clients.

· Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing activities, and installation progress.

9. Defect Management & Client Coordination

· Identify, document, and coordinate rectification of client and consultant defects.

· Communicate project updates, key issues, and schedule changes discussed during coordination meetings to company management and subcontractors.

· Ensure timely resolution of punch list items and compliance with project completion requirements.
