Reports to: VP of Engineering and Solution
Position Overview
As we expand our footprint across Asia, ASEAN Cableship Pte Ltd is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and technically astute Business Development Manager (BDM). This pivotal role will drive our expansion into high-growth segments, including subsea fiber optic and power cable installation and maintenance. Additionally, you will play a critical role in forming and securing strategic partnerships to establish and expand our business across the region.
The ideal candidate possesses a robust network in the marine infrastructure, telecom, or offshore energy sectors, paired with the technical credibility to collaborate closely with our Engineering and Solutions teams.
Key Responsibilities
New Market Expansion: Identify, qualify, and secure commercial opportunities in emerging segments, specifically focusing on subsea power cable installation/maintenance and shore-end HDD solutions.
Strategic Partnerships: Lead the identification, negotiation, and formation of consortiums, joint ventures, and strategic alliances to expand the company’s regional maintenance zones.
Pipeline & Revenue Growth: Develop and execute a comprehensive BD strategy for the Asia region, building a robust pipeline of tender opportunities and commercial projects.
Key Account Management: Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with regional utilities, offshore wind developers, government bodies, telecom consortiums, and oil & gas operators.
Market Intelligence: Monitor regional regulatory shifts, competitor activities, and industry trends to position the company as the preferred marine contractor in Asia.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven business development or commercial management experience within the marine contracting, submarine cable (telecom or power), offshore energy, or heavy marine infrastructure industries.
Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with subsea cable operations, vessel capabilities, shore-end HDD, and the commercial structures of regional maintenance agreements/zones.
Regional Expertise: Proven track record of operating and closing deals within the Asia-Pacific region, with an active network of industry contacts.
Technical Literacy: Ability to bridge the gap between complex engineering capabilities and commercial value propositions.
Negotiation Skills: Exceptional contract negotiation skills with experience handling complex, high-value maritime or energy service agreements.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marine Science, Business, or a related field. An Msc, MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
Travel: Willingness to travel regionally as required to engage clients and partners.
