JOB SUMMARY

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible to manage projects, conduct preventive maintenance, attend to breakdowns and daily activities of the Biomedical Engineering Department (BME). Well maintained, calibrated and tested biomedical equipment and associated accessories will ensure patient safety and a good outcome for the patients. 

The Biomedical Engineer shall also prepare equipment specifications, tender/quotation documents, and evaluate tender offers for procurement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Assist the HOD in meeting service goals, targets, and department KPIs

Manage vendor maintenance agreements for biomedical equipment

Lead and coordinate biomedical equipment commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning

Procure, monitor, and expedite parts orders for breakdowns

Prepare specifications for biomedical equipment tenders, evaluate proposals, negotiate, and make recommendations

Support all hospital departments and clinics with Biomedical Engineering needs

Ensure Preventive Maintenance is planned, scheduled, and executed for all medical equipment

Update the masterplan for equipment maintenance

Track and manage asset listings; ensure proper tagging, recording, and upkeep

Resolve service issues with medical equipment vendors

Assist users with medical equipment matters

Handle incident reporting and investigations involving medical equipment

Implement relevant SOPs, policies, and procedures for Biomedical Engineering and Workplace Safety and Health

Support CAPEX planning, maintenance, OPEX, and sourcing for hospital departments.

Prepare monthly reports and annual budgets

Ensure compliance with MOH, regulatory, and accreditation standards (ISO, JCI, OHSAS, NEA, etc.)

Understand basic Cybersecurity and IT network principles

REQUIREMENTS

Possess an Engineering Degree, Diploma, or NITEC in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering

Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in handling medical equipment and related projects

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions

Ability to engage various stakeholders in a fluid environment and a growing organization

Knowledge of hospital services, operations, facilities and medical equipment

Interpersonal and communication skills and able to work effectively with individuals and groups

Knowledge of negotiation strategies and skills
