Job description for Assistant Machining Manager at Chong Fong Engineering Pte Ltd
Key Responsibilities
Assist in managing daily workshop and machining operations.
Supervise CNC machinists, machine operators, and production staff.
Plan and coordinate machining schedules to meet production deadlines.
Monitor machine utilization, productivity, and production output.
Ensure machining works are carried out according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Support troubleshooting of machining and production issues.
Coordinate machine maintenance and ensure machines are in good working condition.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and inspection requirements.
Monitor tooling usage and coordinate tooling replacement when necessary.
Enforce workplace safety regulations and housekeeping standards.
Train and guide machinists and operators on machining practices and safety procedures.
Work closely with Engineering, Quality Control, and Production departments.
Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
Prepare production reports and update management on operational performance.
Requirements
Diploma or Higher NITEC in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of machining experience, preferably in CNC machining environment.
At least 2 years of supervisory or team-leading experience.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and machining operations.
Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
Familiar with precision measurement instruments and quality control procedures.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of production planning and machine scheduling.
Familiar with workplace safety practices and regulations.
Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and under pressure to meet production deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in oil & gas, aerospace, semiconductor, or precision engineering industry.
Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC programming will be an advantage.
Experience with ISO quality systems is preferred.
Working Conditions
Based in manufacturing / machining workshop environment.
