Job description for TCM Practitioner/Acupuncturist at TAO

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Conducting Assessments and Diagnoses

Interview patients to obtain comprehensive health histories, including current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and other relevant factors.

2. Perform physical examinations based on TCM principles, such as tongue and pulse diagnosis.

3. Analyze collected information to make accurate TCM diagnoses.

Developing Treatment Plans

1. Design individualized acupuncture treatment plans tailored to the patient's diagnosis.

2. Determine appropriate acupuncture points and stimulation techniques to be used.

3. Explain the treatment plan to patients, including goals, expected benefits, and potential risks.

Performing Acupuncture Procedures

1. Administer acupuncture procedures using sterile, needles in accordance with safe and hygienic practice standards.

2. Ensure patient comfort and safety during acupuncture sessions.

3. Monitor patient reactions during treatment and make adjustments as necessary.

Providing Patient Education

1. Provide information and education to patients regarding the principles of acupuncture, its benefits for their conditions, and other holistic health practices.

2. Offer advice on lifestyle modifications, diet, and exercises that can support patient health.

Documentation and Administration

1. Accurately and completely record patient health histories, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes for each acupuncture session.

2. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with applicable regulations.

3. Participate in team meetings and professional development activities.

Compliance and Safety

1. Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures.

2. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sterilization.

3. Report any adverse events or potential risks to the supervisor.

Professional Development

1. Participate in training and seminars to enhance knowledge and skills in acupuncture and TCM.

2. Stay updated on the latest developments in acupuncture practices.

Clinic Representation and Promotion:

1. Actively promote TAO Medicine’s philosophy, services, and wellness offerings to patients and the wider community.

2. Support clinic outreach efforts, events, and collaborations to raise awareness and attract new clients.

Lifestyle Recommendations Based on TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

1. Specific food recommendations tailored to the individual's condition, including what to avoid and easy, practical examples to implement in daily life.

2. Guidance on the ideal time to sleep according to the body's natural energy flow (e.g., before 11 PM to support liver and gallbladder function).

3. Each recommendation is backed by TCM principles explaining the why behind the guidance to support long-term balance and health.

Herbal Assessment and Prescription

1. Evaluate patients to determine the need for herbal remedies as part of their Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment plan, considering their constitution, pattern of disharmony, and specific symptoms.

2. Formulate and prescribe customized herbal formulas based on accurate TCM diagnosis and in-depth knowledge of Chinese Materia Medica.

3. This includes selecting individual herbs, determining appropriate dosages, and considering potential interactions or contraindications.

4. Explain the purpose, dosage, preparation methods, and potential side effects of prescribed herbal formulas to patients clearly and concisely.

5.Monitor patient response to herbal treatments and make necessary adjustments to the formulas based on their progress and any changes in their condition.

6. Provide guidance on the proper preparation and administration of herbal decoctions, powders, or other forms of herbal medicine.

Requirements:

1. Indonesian citizen, holding a minimum D3/D4 Diploma in Acupuncture.

2. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Possess a valid STR (Registration Certificate) and SERKOM (Competency Certificate).

3. Skilled in Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostics, acupuncture, and cupping techniques.

4. English proficiency (written and spoken) with a strong commitment to professional development.

5. Exceptional organizational skills, with a high level of meticulousness and attention to detail.
