Job description for Social Media & Content Specialist Intern at True Indonesia

We are looking for a Social Media & Content Specialist to lead end-to-end social media management for our brands, from content planning to posting to performance reporting. You will own the Instagram editorial plan for True Indonesia (@trueindonesia_travel) and mytripology (@mytripology), write captions and overlay text, and work closely alongside our graphic designer. You will also assist our graphic designer in sourcing assets, photos, videos, and visual references, while they handle all visual design. You will also serve as copywriter for company collaterals beyond digital marketing content and articles, such as exhibition materials, company videos, and other materials that need copy.

Currently our active channels are Instagram and Facebook, but you'll be expected to explore and help us grow into other platforms. If the role proves successful, you may also take on our foundation's Instagram account, @oceaterra.

This is a 3-month internship. If the engagement proves successful, there is an opportunity to continue as a full-time employee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Instagram editorial plan and content calendar for True Indonesia (@trueindonesia_travel) and mytripology (@mytripology).
  • Write captions and overlay text for feed posts, carousels, and reels, matched to each brand's tone and audience.
  • Manage the end-to-end social media process: content planning, scheduling, posting, and performance reporting, working alongside (not performing) design work.
  • Collaborate closely with the graphic designer to brief creative needs and ensure content plans translate into ready-to-post visuals.
  • Assist the graphic designer in sourcing assets, photos, videos, and visual references that fit the brand and content direction.
  • Act as copywriter for company collaterals beyond digital marketing content and articles, such as exhibition materials, company videos, and other internal or external materials that need copy.
  • Track and report social media performance across Instagram and Facebook, summarizing key metrics and insights for internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively research trends and audience behavior to inform content direction, themes, and formats.
  • Explore and recommend opportunities to grow presence on additional social platforms beyond Instagram and Facebook.
  • Support onboarding and content planning for the OceaTerra Instagram account (@oceaterra) once the role is established.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Perplexity) to speed up research, idea generation, and drafts, while learning how to review and refine AI-generated output.

What We Are Looking For

  • Fresh graduate in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, available to commit full-time for the internship period.
  • Strong written communication skills in English; comfortable adapting tone and voice across two or more brands.
  • Strong interest in social media, content strategy, and storytelling, with a creative eye for what makes a post work.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Instagram and Facebook from a content/brand-management perspective (personal or organizational use counts).
  • Comfortable working with basic social media performance metrics and reporting.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable, able to plan ahead and keep an editorial calendar on track.
  • Proactive and able to take initiative in developing content ideas without waiting for direction.
  • Curious and willing to work with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini) as part of the daily workflow; prior experience beyond basic prompting is a plus.

What You Will Gain

  • End-to-end, hands-on experience managing social media for multiple brands, from planning through posting to reporting.
  • Direct collaboration experience working alongside a graphic designer to bring content plans to life.
  • Exposure to both commercial travel brands and conservation-focused storytelling, with potential involvement in OceaTerra's Instagram presence.
  • Practical experience using AI tools as part of a real social media workflow.
  • Room to explore and help shape the company's presence on new social platforms.
